visual firewall mapping would be nice

When you initially open the JMSpecial it is zoomed in on the past 12HR, so you had to click to the 24HR button, but I misinterpreted what they wanted. I answered the same way but I think they wanted the max spike which was just shy of 2MB/s.

#8 stumped me for a bit. I answered 1-7 & 10 but was unsure of 9, and I'm mad considering how many times I heard it at SWUG in Austin. Finally input the wrong answer into #9, but it did help me see 8. Oh well, 9/10 isn't bad =P

watched on initial release - maybe time to revisit

When I was in high school, my father and I had "the talk" but not the one about the birds and the bees He asked me what I liked and wanted to do with my life, I gave him a very generic "well I like computers". Yeah to play games and generally just fool around with. Not 2 months later he needed work done on our home PC, he…

I'll give it a read. Robert

The idea was to have a variable dataset, defined by a user, that could be applied to a prebuilt report without the need to edit the report within SW. I wanted to be able to have SolarWinds run the report, with all of our images, wording, and layout then use the scheduled task to send it as a PDF. Maybe more "complete"…

Thank you for the answer @"jm_sysadmin" For us it is just under 2.5 million over 180 days. When I initially made the change from 30 to 180 I had the users of those tables monitor for search issues. We did talk about capping it at a year and just pulling a yearly report for archiving, I'm thinking with your feedback I'll…

That is our current running version. We've had no issues with it, but I am unsure if this is SU5 or lower

Hey caneruguz, We do not do this often at all. This is the first run at using the IP address request feature and it was a question that was asked during our testing. Honestly it isn't done enough in our environment so it won't break the usage of it but I do believe it would be a neat feature request since SW does connect…

If SolarWinds is ingesting your Syslogs from the routers then you could monitor this stuff with alert built off the messages. If you navigate to the Alerts & Activities area there are some pre-made interface down alerts. I imagine there are some SNMP MIBs that could be monitored for VPN tunnel status, you may have to…

A bit more information. I'm using the IPAM feature for users to request an IP address, it works fine. Since DNS servers are also integrated into our SolarWinds deployment, I was curious if it was also a possibility for an A record to be created along with the IP address request if is accepted/approved.

Agreed - we are getting one of these installed
-
Thanks David. I appreciate the input. I will use them in this way moving forward Robert

Using SNMP v3 with Cisco equipment
-
I did find them in there but I cannot seem to get descriptions to come through. They are all blank according to SolarWinds but only for the ATA gateways. Are you able to see them? Edit: In Call Manager they have descriptions in the same place I pull them for connected phones
-
I did not have the same issue but I did resolve by adding the correct MIBs to be polled on my switching. I'm glad you posted, I completely forgot to close this out. Robert

So escalation works but call me hardheaded because I want the drag and drop to work as well. I assume that's the reason it is there haha I'll keep this open for a couple days to see if anyone else responds
-
No they are not set in an escalation order. Just one after another, it works fine if I put them in order from the initial config of the alert. I assumed since you could drag and drop them into different orders that once saved it would keep that order, but that isn't the case. I will try making an escalation order and get…

Hey @"arjunrajan" , Are you asking for guidance on how to build the SolarWinds environment? There is documentation for that, some things you need to be thinking of are the # of modules you are using, # of nodes you are monitoring. Links: - Build documentation:…
-
If you are monitoring hardware health sensors when you add nodes then you can leverage the default thresholds, or make your own, along with the alert as you have it set to alert you when there is an issue. I setup my alert exactly like yours with the exception of scope.

Update for anyone looking into this... I had to update the MIBs in my SNMP strings in order for the information to be polled from my switching gear. In particular they were: * mib-2 * interfaces * cisco After that I forced a refresh under "List Resources" and checked some new options that showed up such as…

If you know the sa password then you should be able to reset the SolarWindsOrionDatabaseUser account password from within the SQL Server Management Studio. I recently did a migration of sorts, did not seem to flow with the migration guide so I ended up doing the following to get my server back online. Note that I did…
