Holy Moley! MAN, them're sum unexpected / non-intuitive commands. Maybe I should wait for the Apple version of Unmanage. Thank you for the powerful writing. I'm not fit to breath the air in the same room as you.

I'm selecting them manually from the list of nodes sorted by Machine Type. For now there are only two nodes that need no monitoring / alerting between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., so I've no need for a dynamic selector.

I'd like NPM to NOT show these nodes as down between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. every day forever. I'd like NPM to NOT send us e-mailed alerts about these nodes' status (up/down/rebooted/etc.) between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. every day forever. I don't mind if NPM sends traps about these nodes to Splunk, but the traps are also…

I'd like to apply this to a group of Nodes to be unmanaged from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. every day of the week. I'm not "scripty" enough to figure out how to make that happen based on your example. Might you care to show an example of the script that's modified to do this? Swift packets! Rick Schroeder

Bumping this--it needs to be implemented and integrated with NPM's GUI.

There are a good number of answers to this if you were to Google "How to create a supernet from subnets", and one of them is here: ip - How do you calculate the prefix, network, subnet, and host numbers? - Network Engineering Stack Exchange You might also use the SolarWinds' free Advanced Subnet Calculator if you love…

And just like that, problem corrected! Thank you, mesverrum !

You could force a Rediscovery and a new poll of a node--that should result in its CDP information being refreshed within Orion NPM's display of the node's CDP neighbors.. For convenience I add a widget window to all my nodes that shows their CDP neighbors (if they're capable of showing that information). The custom SWQL…

I'm a bit confused about the "MINUTES" column's output. I have five nodes that are monitored, they've been down eleven to thirteen minutes each, but the Minutes column says they've been down for 361 minutes or more. My sites are all in the time zone, 6 hours off from UTC. I think I understand it's being broken by UTC, but…

CDP advertisements are sent every 60 seconds by default on Cisco devices, but this is configurable. You could send info every 30 seconds if you wished. Cisco Discovery Protocol Configuration Guide, Cisco IOS Release 15M&T - Cisco Discovery Protocol Version 2 [Support] - …

NPM has a good number of pre-built Availability reports. Find them by going to Report > All Reports, then typing in "Availability" in the upper right search box and hitting Enter. Or, you could continue using the information within this thread, and simply clicking the "show all" option: If you've configured the Widget…

I don't know a neat & tidy way to get all the cdp neighbors MAC addresses from the switch. Options you have would be to: 1. Show cdp ne detail | in address (This gets you only the IP address of all neighbors) 2. Go to the L3 interface (upstream) for that switch and use the "show ip arp" command and search for the IP…

I added this today (20191023) without any changes from the original query--it works perfectly! I'm delighted. I just showed it off to my team and they were interested. It immediately showed us a s couple of switches that had been down this morning--and included the exact start and end time of the outage, and also the…

Understood. For at least a temporary basis, you might consider downloading a 30-day fully-operational version of the modules you wish you owned, and use them for that period to get the information you need. Another possibility would be to work with your DBA's, or get permission (or access/permission to an account with…

Matt, Do you have User Device Tracker? That's one tool that might make the task of finding specific phone models on your network easier. Do you have IPAM? The same thing--it could be the answer to your needs for that phone model search. Do you have access to your DHCP server? If the phone model has a specific vendor MAC…

One solution is cumbersome: Create a new Report or View and insert a Custom HTML resource for each interface in it. This is time consuming to build and time consuming to load and view, but it DOES do exactly what you want--except NOT in bulk. I've created this type of resource several times because it serves a good purpose…

You can see the complete and unencrypted configuration by issuing this command on an ASA: more system:running-config With this information you could do a complete restore, or migrate the configuration to a different ASA. You should also be able to identify all the source interfaces for transfers/copies. I Beta-tested NCM…

Nicely done!

Oh, My Goodness! wluther, you ARE a gem on the infinite shores of the world! I don't know how you found time to discover this, much less document it so well, but my hat's off to you so fast that it took some of my hair with it. It'll take me some time to run through your (EXCELLENT!) documentation and build up the custom…

See if this document I created helps: How to trim, remove, or truncate domain names discovered and displayed in NPM 11.5.2 and NCM 7.4 Swift Packets! Rick Schroeder

Is there any reason to keep your original spelling here?

Hoping Thwack PM's count as e-mails--I'm off work on vacation this week, but am available next week. I rely on Traceroute a lot, as does my I.T. team (six Network Analysts) and our department (600 Analysts, SME's, SA's, DBA's, Communications folks, DevOps, InfoSec, etc.). NetPath has been a wonderful tool to show ISP's and…

Cisco TAC adds on the idea that every port needs to have "ip flow monitor NTAmonitor input" or the equivalent added to its config. This is because NetFlow is only monitoring Ingress. I objected mildly, saying I'd been able to see multiple ports reporting to NTA, even though I'd only applied that command to the uplink / WAN…

FlexConnect isn't an option for us since there are no locally-provided services at each site. We considered it, but when we realized we have nothing "at" a site (beyond Internet and WAN access) that is useful to users, FlexConnect stopped being a valid solution. QoS settings per WLAN aren't a solution either because…

We'd get use out of alerts that tell us when ANY app consumes more than X percent of a WAN link or interface. We provide free Guest Wireless at most of our 100 hospitals & clinics, and it's a continual challenge to know when specific complaints of medical application slowness are caused by WAN congestion caused by Guests…

It's nice to see non-Cisco tech get some loving from Solarwinds.
