This sounds like a Feature Request to me . . .
-
Thank you df112. Your kind words are the things that help keep people coming back to Thwack.
-
Thanks for the response. Although you may find the other options could help, after a certain amount of time I stop the research and focus on creating a Support Ticket online, I create and upload the Diagnostics and attach them to the ticket, and I call Support with the ticket ID and ask for help. Let us know what your…

That does't sound like normal behavior; all of my Config Change Reports are short unless we've made a lot of big changes to many interfaces. I think a Support Case is worth opening to understand and correct the issue in your environment.
-
Understood. I selfishly assume everyone has NCM just because I can't live without it. I know it's not free, not cheap. But it IS worth it in my environment for managing/restoring configs quickly, for doing fast and massive updates when changes are required, and for ensuring all my gear passes industry and local Compliance…

TACACS shows us who made every change, and the exact syntax they used for every line entered.
-
That looks like your bug is only cosmetic, and the ASA should not crash. But open a TAC case with Cisco to confirm it.
-
No "useful/positive" ideas. It seems you may be stuck with: * Creating a new Node in NPM/NCM/NTA based on the IP address of the interface from which you want to send Netflow data * Work with the vendor to learn a new way to NAT / mask the actual source address so it looks like it's coming from the management address you…

Work with your Cisco reseller and with Cisco itself to see if there's a solution. Who knows, maybe you can work something out with a GRE tunnel. But as far as I know, OTV is restricted to the Nexus environment, and I implemented it in pairs of 7009's and 7010's. Maybe you can get it running 5596's? It's complex, and making…

Well, then you're in a pickle. Perhaps others will know how to accomplish this. How about we set the problem on its ear? * Define the limitations of Orion and ACI * Craft a proposal that accommodates them and accomplishes the monitoring you need based on your products' capabilities and limitations * Use the above to show…
-
To the best of my knowledge, no, there is not a different way to extend an L2 subnet/VLAN between two physically separate/remote sites that meets HA criteria. Although you should work with your data center / WAN architect and VAR to confirm you can't come up with something elegant. You shouldn't kluge together a one-off…

The maps I build with Solarwinds tools DO show node status as red for down and green for up. Typically, here in the Network Team, we prioritize our monitoring in this order: * Data Center and Core and WAN resources (including firewalls, Internet, DMZ's, ACI, etc.) * Distribution Switches and Border Routers * Access…
-
Let's extrapolate what others have said in other responses (e.g.: generate justifications for Orion funding by billing other departments for the services they get from Orion): * Each source of income to your company benefits from Orion. Divide Orion's costs (not just licensing, servers, and support contracts, but also…

I found a canned report in NCM that may do what you need. Open NCM in Orion, Click on Inventory, choose the pull down to View By and select Inventory. Look for the the Report Name "IP Addresses on each interface." Rick
-
Given several of us have used your process to discover NCM isn't backing up everything we expected, one might ask SolarWinds: * Why isn't there a canned report for this already? * Why isn't it automatically running as soon as a single device is added into NCM? * Shouldn't there be a status report already in place that…

That's a pretty report output, and useful. Thank you for the work and for sharing it!

After removing all asterisks in the Comparison Criteria and running the comparison job three times more, it appears one of the pollers is correctly ignoring the criteria, while the other three still are not taking advantage of the new criteria. How long does a change in the Comparison Criteria take to replicate out to four…

Opening a new ticket is the right solution. But you may discover it could be faster to simply restore the server from last night's backups. You do automated backups of your server at least once a day, right? Maybe more often incrementally?
-
I confess, I never realized what your hand shapes avatar signified. My wife saw it last night and said "Oh, sweet--he's made an "S W" with his hands & fingers, for "Solar Winds." My left brain wasn't letting my right brain do any analysis, or maybe I'd have recognized that SW long ago. Sometimes I'm so wrapped up in the…
-
Agreed, and that was a deal-breaker for me when I wanted to do the beta test for NTA since we don't support SQL 2016 yet, and since SW won't allow NTA's dB to run on anything older than 2016.
-
I'm happy to hear it's working for you. Please feel free to make my answer "Correct" so others can find it.
-
serena, if you have suggestions for me to get around that bug, I'm willing to try anything that makes sense to try!
-
Or is it REALLY that DevOps has arrived?!
-
Good work!
-
Use Solarwinds recommendation for CPU and memory based on the license count, and keep your elements under 12,000 per poller, and you should do well.
-
If you discover such a method, I'd be interested in learning the details.
-
Yes, I've made all those restrictions & limitations. Users can open the external node icon & see the network node(s) within, and if they hover they can see more info than I'd like. Including the device's polling IP address. A C-Level person doesn't need that info in my organization. I'd like to remove this NPM user's…

I like your query, and would love advice for filtering out the reported devices. I have 100+ ASA's, but only two in which AnyConnect is supported. Can you help me adjust the query so only information from these two ASA's is displayed?

Here's hoping your body isn't so tall you bump your head up there when you stand. Or that you don't have to hunch over / crouch when you're walking up in that loft. Or that it gets too hot up there in the summer. But kudo's to you for being on always-improving-the-home-environment mode!

Following this thread--thanks CourtesyIT. We're not collecting AD user info via UDT yet, but I want to start soon. Just waiting for politics to approve the permissions/rights for UDT to get it and display it.
