That blanket is perfect over my lap when watching a movie. On cold mornings I wrap it around me as I work remotely from home. It's a keeper--very warm!

If you don't already have a Thwack Backpack, it's top quality, filled with a surprisingly helpful number of zippered sections. I think it can easily hold 4 laptops, their power cables, tools, etc. Well worth 25,000 Thwack points.

EBeach, might you kindly send me a link to your resource that defined how to configure your Merakis to send Netflow from wired ports to NTA? Rick Schroeder

The key is to have an enterprise view from Day One, when the little startup business first makes plans to open a door. The problem is that startups can't afford Enterprise-quality network architects, or even advice from them. It all grows slowly and organically, and changes with every new person who comes in.

I'm with you. More 2X and 3X. However, since I'm one of the stumpy guys, and have to already roll up the shirt sleeves without having to deal with an additional 5" or 6" of length, it would be sweet to be able to specify size. In fact, why not just have a place to input the size, select the options for neck, arm length,…

That's a beautiful query, @"bobmarley" . Thank you for sharing it! Rick Schroeder

@"dunky2k" would you be so kind as to show us screenshots of how you accomplish the conversion to Fahrenheit?

Nicely done! It's a bit of a stressful exam--particularly if the clock is getting close to running out, and you might start worrying about not completing it in time. The certificate's a nice one--worthy of the frame. You'll always appreciate seeing certs you've earned, and your peers & boss will see them and recognize your…

You've proposed a fun & practical solution, and I like it. But I'm hoping Solarwinds will find my Feature Request relatively easy to create and implement reliably. It should make their product that much more impressive. As it is today, I have seven pollers. RDP'ing to each and stopping & starting the Solarwinds Services…

Corgi coworkers? Excellent!

Please don't go there. There are excellent reasons to not use V1. Either upgrade the firmware on your devices or use this security best practice as a justification for replacing them.

Getting work done in that office, with musical instruments as easy distractions, would require some will power for me.

Yes, it begins counting up from zero, in minutes, then perhaps minutes and hours, tracking the amount of time the battery is providing power to your equipment. APC UPS's I've monitored also provide NPM with information about how much battery time they have left before they shut down during a power outage. This information…
-
Four Windows workstations are monitored by NPM via WMI. The polling happens once a minute. When any of those workstations goes unreachable NPM is supposed to fire off an e-mail notifying a team of the outage. When the node is reachable by NPM again, another e-mail is fired off to the same team noting the device is back up.

I haven't seen a good solution so far, Eric. I believe one exists, that SWQL can be made to do the work; I'm no SWQL expert, and am hoping / waiting for one of them (or SW Support) to look into it and provide a script for us script-kiddies to use. I'm not holding my breath, but it's also not an urgent issue for me (yet).

I'm sorry I don't have the answer to your question. My personal preference is to gather the diagnostics and open a case and talk with a technician before rebooting anything and before restarting any services. This ensures the product is in its broken state when the technician looks at it. And then they can work at not only…

I found the same situation in my environment. Traffic terminating at 100 Mb Avaya VoIP phones' mini-switches shows very-large amounts of discards/drops. We'd been blaming the older, cheaper, 100 Mb Avaya phones since we don't see the issue on their new 1 Gig phones.
-
Cisco TAC often references the percentage of drops when compared to the total output. In this case, if I did my match correctly, TAC would say 243461012 output drops over 113553316195 bytes is .2%, and is insignificant--something not to be worried about. Well, I WORRY about that. Zero output drops is where happiness lies,…

@"danielleh" I'm looking for the information in your link in this thread, but the link loops back to the original thread, not to a different page. Might I request it be updated to point to the destination you originally intended? Rick Schroeder

Lots to read about this one--how 90% of a particular U.S. Government agency's computers are still running Windows XP and are vulnerable to this, how a 23-year-old kid figured out how to defeat this by buying/registering the domain name it relies on, and more. All I hope is that the extortionists discover Karma is real.

Thank you!

Thank you for this information--I've experienced the same problem. If you don't mind, what SW Support Case ID did you use to report this? I'd like to reference it in the future.
-
Thanks, Mark!
-
I, too, would appreciate this kind of reporting ability, without having to go through extra contortions. For now, I simply go to Admin > Alerts & Reports > Manage Alerts. Then I GROUP BY: Enabled and all the active reports show up on the right screen. This view shows columns showing the name of the alert, a description…

Uff da!

I'm interested, but I did an snmp walk on my Nexus hardware and it jumps right over the OID's you provided: How are folks monitoring or measuring jitter through Cisco Nexus gear?
-
Also, search Thwack for "Plixer". You'll come up with the other resources that may be able to answer more of your questions through personal experience.
-
Read the earlier comments in this thread and then reach out to those Thwack members who recommended Plixer. Let me know if you get it, and how you like it, please?
-
Several folks have recommended Samplicator / Plixer. Thanks for the input.
