I wouldn't fault you for that view. While they're at it, would someone also take away government's sinecure position's health care perquisites and make them survive on what they provide the rest of the country?

I'm not surprised Lime is closing operations in multiple cities, but I AM surprised they were as widely diversified to so many cities. I wonder what makes the difference for them in profitability. Is it just that some cities have responsible adults who return things to the places they belong, and other cities have less…

Continuity of Business . . . It seems that phrase MUST include environmental influences that have already been discovered and documented by best practices for data centers. Those best practices certainly cover items like: * Earthquakes * Tsunamis * Hurricanes * Tornadoes * Terrorism * Construction / excavation (the highest…

I like your "small island" concept. I'm a bird watcher, and have enjoyed showing "rare" North American species to people from around the world (Japan, Australia, England, etc.). The scale of countries and states and regions varies so much in one's mind that looking at maps often doesn't do distances justice. For example,…

I don't understand the conditions when you say a product "may meet" a protocol. My ignorance is showing here, but it seems a product either does, or doesn't, meet the protocol. What conditions aren't defined in the statement that will cause it to meet, or fail to meet, a protocol?

Hmmm. That article discussing Linear Regression applied to predicting costs of gasoline for driving to Las Vegas? Not my style. For that specific example, there are many pre-built solutions available online that can take lots of variable into account, not least of which are weather, traffic conditions, road construction,…

Is it time for a progress report on this FR yet? Does anyone have an Estimated Time of Release for its implementation?

Thanks for another great mission--and follow up!

Here's a few that quickly come to mind: * When a WAN site went down (just yesterday!) and the WAN provider (who has been unreliable) said it wasn't their equipment causing the outage, I was lucky to have NTA and to remember to use it to troubleshoot a WAN issue, despite being accustomed to that particular site's WAN being…

I'm lost--a picture of exactly what? I'll post one if I have (or can get) one.

A classic case of someone not looking to see if the needs have been previously filled successfully. This particular implementation might be useful if the goal were to: * Enhance the thorough mixing of a milk-shake held by the driver * Reduce the likelihood of a run-away tricycle on a hill or in a breeze * Decrease the…

* The older a company is when you join it, the more you appreciate the remarks or comments of others. * The longer you stay with a company, the more you appreciate your own comments and remarks. * The longer the company lasts after you leave, the more your comments are appreciated by others.

I (REALLY) want to believe that information can be had. I'll admit right off the top that I don't know how to get it. But . . . Let's imagine you could somehow identify all the nodes and interfaces whose throughput would comprise the info your Network Engineer desires. So you have 94 pieces of monthly information. That…

Facebook and WhatApp do to your account and phone what you'd never allow anyone else to do. You'd never blindly trust a stranger to manipulate your personal configurations and data, right? Enabling them to see or steal your personal info? The problem is that folks want certain functionality, or are persuaded by spin / P.R.…

It feels like there's still something missing from the equation for great customer support. Something like reporting or notifications or current status pages and graphs being sent to your customers. Obviously leveraging Orion's knowledge of the environment. Is it enough to just do performance monitoring, end-user…

Loot Boxes seem like a perfect example of exploitation of innocents and ignorance. There's no need to make money at their expense. That's just evil and greedy.

It seems the conclusion of the article about automation replacing low-level jobs is that it does do this. It assumes that the replaced workers will be able to find other low-level jobs, such as an unemployed warehouse employee becoming a substitute teacher. That's a pretty poor example. My friends who work in warehouses do…

Automation is slower in the U.S. than elsewhere? Obviously I'm behind the times--I've toured some pretty impressive factories that have put skilled workers out of jobs, while simultaneously opening up the door for cheaper production costs on common user goods. It's going to get worse/better? Oh boy. I think.

Would the "Back" button, or closing the browser window, serve to accomplish that purpose?

We use Fluke Live-Link often enough that I've placed a link tab for it on our NPM Admin menu bar. It really saves our staff time and off loads work from my Network Team by eliminating Network staff as the middle men when someone needs to discover the network room / switch / blade and switchport to which a device is…

Wendy, you make me worry I'm not worried enough. ;^) Frankly, I've spent the last year getting an even more solid base for our network, adding VNQM, HA, IPAM, and UDT to our environment, along with more pollers that can handle another 60,000 elements. Keeping a sharp awareness of our firewall performance with the new Net…

This feature request, and all those additional links to other requests, makes sense to me. Having this functionality would improve the product a lot, and increase its utility to my team and our clients. Please: If you have the time, please visit the above links and vote for each of them. A couple of years ago I did a Beta analysis of SolarWinds network topology mapping functionality. I was impressed at the questions they asked, and also by their responses to my wants and suggestions. Some wishes were filled, others remain, but it's great that SolarWinds is continually trying to fill our needs better and…

When choosing terms to describe yourself in an interview process, tend to err on the side of those that build you up or that are positive, rather than using those that can possibly identified as negatives or defects. My employment experience has shown that technical abilities can be trained into an employee, but…
