If I reinstall from a new version, do I lose all the maps created on the original version?
-
Jiri, Since I have four NPM pollers, and since NCM is integrated with all of them, I find the newly-created Routine Database and Archive Maintenance job runs successfully on one poller, and fails on the other three. Is that expected? SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager Scheduled Job Notification…

No, but I will & let you know the results. Thanks.

You're welcome, Brett. I've seen what goes around, comes back to one. Not to say discouraging words about SW Support, but I've had many questions or issues answered or resolved more quickly by Thwack members than by Support. That said, the more complex problem-oriented / bug-associated issues are usually resolved by…

You're doing right by your customers, playing the conservative action card. And you're not hurting anyone by NOT upgrading yet, either--sort of a virtual win-win situation. Nothing's broken, there's some new features & functionality that you'd like from the new versions, and it's OK to wait until the hotfixes have been…

I hadn't tested SCP since applying the last Hotfixes in January, but they fixed everything else. I suspected they fixed the SCP, too. However, being able to use SCP doesn't correct the issue of NCM Firmware Upgrade operation to properly discover and use the available space information on the target node, and properly allow…

That's the best example of someone saying "I have nothing to say about that" I've ever seen.
-
Good work! That's what comes from thinking out of the box a little, and bouncing ideas off of peers. I'm happy this is working out easy for you!
-
Now I don't think it's "really" fixed, since I see a gap between standings. For example, if I'm at rank 21 and the next person behind me with slightly fewer points is at level 23, they should be ranked at 22, and that's not the case--they're at 23. It's close, but no cigar yet. My leader board score is 62 points higher…

Thank you for clarifying, Claudia. I've edited my original response to be more in line with your observation. Good job!

Right. Believe that--it's the right information. In my environment, it happens that Interfaces make up the vast majority of my elements, so my personal focus is on them. I manage fewers servers, so I tend to ignore the volume licensing since it's automatically covered in my SLX "unlimited" licenses. The same for my node…

Many applications require the use of a wide range of source ports, but only one single destination port. Based on that, Netflow can look at the destination port and compare and correlate it with a list of applications known to use only that destination port. While on the other hand, looking at source ports is a much more…

Oops--make that "300K Club"!

I recommending collecting the diagnostics off the poller(s) and opening a support case with Solarwinds to clear this up most efficiently.
-
Yes, that makes sense. It's beyond my abilities to provide, though--my apologies. Open a case with Tech Support, but leave this thread going. Maybe another Thwack user has already done what you want, and will share it. On that same topic, remember to search Thwack for what you want--if you haven't already done so. It might…

Actually, I may be experiencing that today. Hmmm . . .

Uff da! Who knew?

I apologize, sja; I don't have that answer quickly for you. But I'll step outside the box and query you whether that UPS poller might provide you helpful data. I'm interested in the snmp MIBs/OIDs that can be displayed in NPM for each node, as well as the traps/alerts that can be generated to help us better anticipate…

Our Sidewinders log information onboard for every ping, hit, deny, attack, flow, etc. The onboard logging enables me to capture audits and tcpdumps in real time, AND ALSO analyze historic problems. It's amazing to be able to get a ticket from a customer saying "Two weeks ago last Friday, I needed to get to a web site and I…

I'm surprised. Let's verify no assumptions are being made on my part. 1. You went to Reports and clicked on All Reports, right? 2. You found the "Search" window and typed "Login" into it, and then clicked the magnifying glass? 3. When you clicked the Magnifying glass you had several reports show up, one of which is "Login…

Might I impose on you for a sanitized screen shot example of how you use custom property thresholds this way?

That's true!

The key is to set up NCM to access the device remotely exactly as you would do it from your PC. Some things to check: * Ensure the NCM service account has appropriate rights to the device via TACACS or RADIUS if you're using them * Confirm the password NCM uses is the same you successfully log into the device with--no…

I hear you, brother! I still have to support "hardened" Windows 95 boxes behind private firewall appliances, along with Vista, 2000, NT, and XP. Fortunately my Security Team is empowered to seek out & replace/remediate them. But we continually get "new" gear that's already proven to have flawed/vulnerable/obsolete network…

I'd like to duplicate your work, tnice81, but am having a little trouble with the very start of the process. As I try to build a new alert I'm not finding the Dynamic option in which to use that SWQL. Might I request you send a few screen shots showing the very first few views of your Dynamic alert so I can get headed…

I love that SE's like you--in Cork!--read and respond to customers' queries, and that have you access to the technical information behind the scenes!

My team does not monitor the UCS chasses themselves--that is the responsibility of another team--the Systems Analysts. They do not use snmp to monitor UCS chassis hardware. Their solution is NRPE and is completely agent-based. They tie it into Nagios since that's their area of comfort. My team uses WMI to monitor multiple…

After a couple of years of use out of the Thwack Gaming Table it's moved on to new owners. My college-aged son used it with his room mates and they didn't destroy it. It has a rotatable two-sided playing surface, and each side can be reconfigured for at least two games that include: * American Football (with suction-cup…

I've been told there was a shipping delay, but that it's on its way now. No ETA yet.

Loop 1 should be able to get the job done for you.
