Totally agree with adding a failover server.

I have seen many people use the envelope story. It is not so funny if you are at the receiving end.

Excellent review. I am an living example of someone who is having hard time shift the mindset. I am hoping for the best,

Nice article. Makes you examine different aspects of work - being busy vs being productive vs being busy while being productive vs being productive keeps you busy always.

A lot of times, it happens because people tend to think they would get back to it and configure TACACS/RADIUS or change the default password which never happens. Yes, it is still a common practice in many companies.

A very interesting article and SAM sounds pretty awesome.

Very interesting and makes me wonder if I am doing it right.

Wow....what an interesting article. While reading, it reminded me of the discussion we all have been having on how much control should governments have on banks related to trading stocks and hedge funds. I can see how the usage of BW could become an issue in the near future. Well, I think, when it gets to that level, a…

Same here, always wanted to test LEM. Will bring it up in our next meeting. Thanks for the post.

I just had a conversation with my DBA friend on the same topic. You are absolutely correct, BI is what DBAs should be focusing on in the near future.

You got me this time!!!!! Oh well....

Yes, going with professionals is the way to go. It is less time consuming and a million times cleaner that way. Experience speaking with no shame.

It is always the network......... . . . . . NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice article. Automation is the one that is the most challenging of all, IMHO.
-
Spot on!! I am one of those who want to learn scripting but haven't gotten around doing it yet. I see myself getting more and more involved in automation in the near future and once it is no longer an additional skill and becomes a necessity, we will find it easier than we thought. A very good article.

I wonder what the future of the NFV in terms of layer-II switches, given the cloud providers are actually taking care of all that. I can imagine Virtual Firewalls being installed in the cloud a lot more than they are on-prim, but how are the NFV manufacturers going to utilize their products in the cloud? Interesting times…
