Hi. It's all part of a bigger UI picture. There are are a few feature requests for copy/rename/template of users and the standardization of this functionality across Orion modules. If we keep asking perhaps it will be incorporated soon . Regards, Robert http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/1356…

Sounds like you should try the Custom Property Editor on your server. It will allow you to create a Severity column which you can quickly populate on the server. When you come to add additional kit later, you can complete the Custom Property field along with all the other setting in the Node Add pages. You'll see the new…

I've noticed that depending upon the setting selected in the Type of Property to Monitor drop-down on the Trigger Condition page the contents of the Variable Categories change making some of the Custom Properties unavailable when you're in the Trigger Actions > Send Email > Message > Insert Variable. You can go backwards…

Found it. In the SQL database, check the table [dbo].[MapStudioFiles] which has both file name & the map name The FieldID column is the actual file name (*.OrionMap) while the FileName column is actually the map name as known by Network Atlas The FileType column is 0 = OrionMap 2 = JPG 16 = WMF 128 = GIF Taking the SQL…

I decided to give my ZIP a different name. I've uploaded SolarwindsDiagnostics 20171027 robertcbrowning.zip

Mine will be uploaded tomorrow & will be MySuperSecretAndUberConfidential-PleaseDoNotHackMe-OrionServer20171026.zip

I had the same thing happen. I only noticed it when I went to the store & had a message that SW didn't ship to UAE. I corrected it in my profile & it's been OK since.

The admin guide does mention "Baseline", but this just is an initial poll and then becomes just one of many polls.

Is there any update on handling NetFlow de-duplication? If we build resilient & multi-feed NetFlow sources will Orion's NTA de-duplicate the feeds or will the data be stored twice? Thanks
-
Is there an update on WPM/Chrome comparability yet?

We have a top level jpeg describing our major sites and I have dragged individual map icons on each site. Each of these site maps only has the site's local topology drawn. In busy sites, I additionally have up to 6 sub maps which describe, for example, the WAN links, the user distribution or the server distribution. Be…

How simple this is. I just tried it on an eval of NPM v11 & it still works. It takes the settings from the 1st marked account and rubber stamps it on the others. Perfect. Thanks

Absolute times are difficult to say, but the old "I hit the keyboard and it hasn't responded in 2 seconds" is a good rule of thumb. There are dramatically different implications when you compare workstations running, say, telnet v thin Citrix and that is where the absolute time problem really arises. It's all so subjective…

Hi, Your field selection is fine. You just pick the fields that you want to see. Some may be populated and some not, It just depends on what the fields are. I guess that your problem is in the FILTER RESULTS tab. If there's anything in this tab you could delete it and then you'll get everything that Orion knows about. Take…

any ideas?

Hi, NPM will monitor disks, CPUs, interfaces & other physical stuff. You can use the Custom Poller to retreive specific OIDs, but it's often tedious to find out which one to retreive as they differ for each unit. It sounds like you need the APM module which will allow you to check that the FTP service is running on a…

Anyone?

Hi, You should take a look at the Reports tab (on the web site). Many of the reports will include both device name and IP. If you want something a little different then the Report Writer (accessed directly from your server) will be able to customise a report to exactly your requirements

I was on the verge of upgrading, but I think I'll reread this thread over the weekend and sketch out a plan to do the upgrade in stages. OS upgrades & updates first, SQL second & then Orion. Thanks to all for sharing the issues and solutions.

Hi, Load balancing, failover etc is a valid request. I had a similar problem with web server being slow & so I loaded an additional (and dedicated) web server & got the users to access that one instead. It made a world of difference to the system & the users were happy too.

Sorted My ticket recommended upgrading to the latest level. I've taken mine to NPM 12.3 and have applied the latest HotFix6 bundle. It didn't immediately work and a List Resources did not show the new APC as a valid resource. I deleted the APC UPS node from Orion and re-added it. It immediately found the APC resource & all…

I'm seeing the same problem on a new Smart-UPS X 2000 whilst all my existing 5000s are reporting properly with both the <Power Control Unit Status> widget and the <APC UPS> SAM template. I think I'll raise a ticket. support case #00217809 raised

I'm in the same boat with too many sockets for the licence that we've just bought and I'm new to VMan. Mergers & migrations have confused the calculations and as I'm running the eval (for just a few days more) I can see that we're already up to 300+ sockets, but we have a brand-new 192 licence to deploy. The intention is…

Just had confirmation through of passing the NTA beta. Woohoo. and that makes 4 I've updated my CV and the qualification has already been loaded into BadgeCert Many thanks to cal.smith & all the rest of the team.

When the proctor says clean desk, they really mean it. Everything had to go. And halfway through the exam he complained that I was reading a question and moving my mouth. It was silent, but I was moving my mouth and he didn't like it. Well, it was a difficult question to understand :). It's scary stuff. Big brother really…

It's Saturday, cold & snowing so what else is there to do on a day off so I sat the SCP for SAM exam this morning. Whooo Hooo - I passed. They said that I'll get a confirmation mail in 48 hours, but I'm already on cloud 9. Whoo Hoo again

Hi, Great question - And you're not alone in wondering about why there are multiple ways of hearing about the same thing. It took me ages to understand why there were so many things that seemed to be the same. Syslog messages are created by a device when an event happens. the manufacturer determins that something is worthy…

I've got the same issue. I want to prove that all our ESX hosts are running on an acceptable time. They are supposed to be collecting time from ntp.org, but if they were to "forget" to do that for a while it would be really nice to know before the drift becomes significant. At the moment I have access to the hosts by RO…

Check out this thread. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/thread/36990 The report lists most of what is required.

Has no-one else ever had this problem? Reporting the settings of alerts, templates, components and thresholds from both NPM & APM is often required to satisfy auditors. The All Nodes managed by NPM under the default NPM Summary tab and the All Applications Tree resource under the default SAM Summary page presents most of…
