You could also create a report to show say the device name & its IP (just as a confidence thing to make sure that you've caught them all), then remove (or hide) the name column, re-run the report, press the Printable Version and finally cut & paste it all into Notepad. You can then paste it into Excel and save it as a CSV.…

Many thanks Jan, I was hoping that they were all still working. I'll dig into the table tomorrow. That'll give me time to work through and fix them all. Thanks again. Robert

Hi Lukas, And there was me thinking that I'd included all of the version info into the original post Yes, I've got VMan 5.1.1 I'll upgrade.it. Thank you for the super-fast reply.

The link to the blog shows how to use variables for the mail adresses, but you may also want to use Custom Properties to group your alerts into, say, Internal or External to establish whether or not to include the URL to Orion.

Pre-Netware 2 and when I was working with Sperry/Unisys we OEM'd the pre-runner. We called it UserNet and we used to name the volumes things like "donkey" and "goat" because the boot script would advise that it was "Mounting <VolumeName>". We thought it was so funny - a proper techie joke . We lived in much simpler times…

I got my badge & it's up on my "Me in 3" now. Not sure about the points though - I sort of lost track And there are now a bunch of people listed as "recent" on the badge

You've not lost them You've trained them up & then released them into the wild to spread the word. It's a lot like raising children

If you turn on the scheduled discovery in the Settings page Orion will find all new or changed nodes and you'll see the newly added volumes and interfaces (as well as being able to automatically add switches to NCM for config collection and to UDT for port/user monitoring) . You'll get a regular update at the top of your…

HI, This one was a bit old.. We're at v11 now & choosing the CPs to be displayed is done on the resource. They are all there, but only a few need be selected to be shown.

I'd love to use a stainless steel spoon. I'd even use a solid silver one if absolutely necessary, but my order is still "processing"

Adding the Excel suffix is useful for tables (and for me), but my management mostly want to see pictures. I found that selecting Printable Version and then cut'n'pasting the graph into a Word doc also gives me the opportunity of describing what they are looking at. Saving the doc as a PDF means that I can safely mail it or…

Did this progress any? Thanks, Robert

There's been some discussion about a lab version in the "Whats in the SCP welcome kit" thread too. Maintaining familiarity when working on other kit is essential for a consultant/contractor & the only way to do this is to practise and experiment in our home labs. Currently my main client has every module going, twice, plus…

The moment you join two standard apps, the result is customisation. Windows, SQL, IIS & SharePoint might be standard, but every one is different and will need some customisation to interact in the way that you want them. There's always going to be that extra service or log that will need checking.

so many ideas. so many opportunities. great integration. great write-up. many thanks

how did this manage to get through? It's a "me too" here as well

Justifying resource is always a headache. The SW docs say to add loads of memory & loads of cores, especially for large installations, but when you inspect each of the servers utilisations, with Orion, with DPA or directly on the servers, it's really difficult to find any evidence that will support the request for…

Great idea. I was poking around in the nodes tables, I didn't think to check the audit tables. Perfect & the results go back as far as you've set its retention period.

I'm looking for more efficiency v resource. We already have more db & engines than any one of our business apps - perhaps a Raspbery Pi for probes, or even small engines? more Rabbit & less MSMQ fewer SW queries highlighted when I run DPA against the Orion databases more integration with IPAM, its tables still handle like…

That really is a difficult question. I want it all. Alerts are great if they are tuned and delivered properly. Dashboards can create a sense of comfort (or embarrassment) and are great at highlighting the volume or severity of a type of issue.

Sorry, but I'm still not clear on this yet. If I have a single polling engine & I put three TS licences on it - can three named users use the product? Can any three concurrent users from a group login of "SupportUsers" use the product If I have multiple engines and an one additonal web server, do I install the keys to the…

if all else fails, get as close to the camera as possible & then they cant see around you

As always, I wanted to hit more than one button. There's a bit of SaaS, then some server & client protection, but still some stuff gets through & the user can report it

Hi himanshu_ranjan, Rules are applied sequentially, so you could have a rule that says "if this is met then save" followed by a rule that discards everything that is left. The process is similar across both the Trap Viewer & Log Analyser although the steps are different.

and a proper cotton short sleeved shirt with a discrete flare would be great for those client meetings And maybe even with the option of having an SCP or MVP suffix on the flare

We started with "any Windows PC" but soon found that discarded laptops were unstable things that you really need a user in front of all the time, to press OK & turn it off and on. We've gone for virtual WS2016 servers around the globe. They are dedicated to running NetPath traces and WPM transactions. We've got a bunch of…

So many folk have office desktops or have left their laptops in the office. WFH & BYOD comes of age. We've proved we can work from home, now we have to prove that we can BYOD. They're already asking for mice, screens, desk stands, new laptops and the supply of hardware is not easy when everyone's after it.

Welcome home Alex I do know the feeling. I had a series of health issues & have been pretty much just keeping my head above water for over a year. Getting back into the swing now, but it is hard. Looking forward to catching up with everyone - yiou included

cool. Thank you so much. I'm going to get some Pie Charts deployed tomorrow
