Sensors install a packet-filter driver (WinPCAP) on the host system to analyze all traffic on a specified interface. The sensors themselves retain aggregated statistics in memory, and communicate via SWIS to the main poller (or assigned additional poller.) There should be no net config change to the host system outside of…

Agreed sir. If you check out the 10.7 beta, you can see that we have the ability to map arbitrary OIDs to the native CPU / Memory fields. One would imagine we wouldn't be far off from adding sysoid / machinetype / OS.
-
Richard, Thanks a bunch for the detail. We'll ping you offline to see if you would happen to have availability to chat. Most appreciated sir.
-
It's not a direct use of web-reports, but if you check out the 10.7 beta, you'll see the ability to use custom tables / custom charts in views: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/message/215411#215411

At present we do not test against RDS for use as NPM/NCM back-end, so unfortunately cannot comment. We will look to do so in the future however.
-
Provided the system has sufficient CPU / memory resources to handle the additional load, there would not be a technical restriction.

Looks like we're treating that as a hex string. Would it be possible to send me an SNMPWalk of that device? rob.hock{at}solarwinds.com http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/3145/SolarWinds+SNMP+Walk%3A+A+new+tool+for+collecting+SNMP+MIB+walks

Would anyone perhaps be able to send an SNMPWalk from our SNMPWalk tool over? rob.hock{at}solarwinds.com
-
It is indeed. The matrix above has now been updated to reflect this.
-
Good point. We'll get on that.
-
Unfortunately our legal-types get cranky when we discuss timelines, but we are indeed working on it: What we're working on post-NPM 11.0

Check out the 10.7 RC with node and interface thresholds. NPM 10.7 RC1 Now Available Yes, we're still working on volumes.
-
In the interim, we'll move this into the NPM feature request area for greatest visibility.
-
We have not explicit testing on the community generated template with v9, but it does impact the same registry keys. It should work. We will likely look to have an official template in the future.
-
Search would definitely be useful. There is a "Group-By" option to filter out auto-dependencies and help narrow the scope.
-
Perfect- thank you sir!
-
This is awesome feedback sir. We're going to be looking at the discovery process holistically in the near future, and these would be welcome inputs. Would it also be useful for you to have "Device Discovery Templates"? So being able to further define a device via sysoid / machinetype / subnet / etc and automatically apply…
-
That's correct- 64-bit only. It appears the system requirements didn't make it onto the download page. We'll look to update.
-
Surely- we have a new "Set Custom Status" action available in NPM 11.5 With this action you can either choose the node object that triggered the alert, or an arbitrary node object.

Would you perhaps be able to send over an SNMPWalk? rob.hock(at)solarwinds.com

In our recent DPI beta, we installed a packet-filter that captured local traffic. Conceivably we could also have a dedicated interface attached to a span or tap. Check out the new NPM WWWO post for other fun items we're looking at: What we're working on post-NPM 10.7

At the present moment, we are just using color and link-labels, though thickness would certainly be an interesting dimension to use as well.
-
Hi Pete - if you're interested, further details on the integration can be found here: http://www.vyopta.com/partners/technology/solarwinds/ I'd love to learn more about what problems you're facing with VTC (besides exec users) - I'll ping you on DM if you have time to chat.

Q1- While we know of some customers using Always-On Availability groups in 2012, we have not performed complete testing on it, thus cannot claim support. We will look to have this testing complete for a future release. Q2- Native 2012 mode would be appropriate.
-
Indeed sir, we are looking to provide greater flexibility in the future for user-defined metrics / fields, so even if we don't natively support specific fields of a device, we can create support for them.

With Alert Central no longer supported, Pingdom is now the closest relevant SolarWinds product. | Pingdom

Excellent ideas sir- thank you

As stated in our KB (http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/3126/What+kind+of+SQL+Server+licensing+does+SolarWinds+require%3F), Microsoft is the sole expert of its products, licensing structure, and related terms and conditions. That being said, our extensive experience with a large consumer base does not match…

Funny you should mention it... This functionality surfaces in the latest 10.7 beta build. If you would like to check it out or learn more: NPM 10.7 Beta 1 Available

Not at present, but it's definitely on our list!
