Send it my way sir!
-
How were we looking to display the 95th? Custom Chart resource has the ability to display 95th percentile line
-
Thank you sir. We were able to replicate this. Tracked internally as 319341.
-
The AP does indeed communicate directly with the DB, as well as use MSMQ and SWIS to the main poller. Page 9 on the Scalability Guide may be useful: http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/Orion/docs/ScalabilityEngineGuidelines.pdf

Thank you sir. Great input- please keep it coming!

We are definitely interested in improving our mapping functionality (and moving to web) in the future. NTM would certainly serve as a good basis to do so (and in fact shares a lot of topology information with NPM.) We did a poll that on this topic just a few months ago:
-
For new installs (and alert definitions) we prevent the editing of alert definitions, and require a duplicate-and-edit.
-
Unfortunately that flat / scrollable list of interface charts is not something we can easily recreate with the present charting package. It's something we have heard occasionally, and something we may look to solve from a UX perspective in the near future.
-
So from your Orion server, you can't ping the other system even from the command line? That would perhaps point to firewall / IPS / ICMP redirect.
-
Certainly not a known issue. A support ticket may be the best avenue to get this solved: http://www.solarwinds.com/support/
-
Do you have NIC teaming configured on a device connected to either of those interfaces? Here's a KB that may be useful: SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: I am seeing a high number of discards reported on one of my monitored devices within Orion.…
-
Definitely not a normal condition- support case would be the best approach here.
-
This includes the new web-based reporting engine?
-
Have you played with the new web-based report writer?
-
Talk to me more about dependencies. Imagine in a magical future world we have automatic dependency mapping. How would you see this working?
-
Apologies for the difficulty- can you perhaps post screenshot of what you are seeing?
-
All the pre-reqs are installed by the SAM installer. Even IIS and MSMQ are installed/activated by our installer.
-
Is the DB on the NPM server itself? What does the incoming syslog / trap rate look like?
-
Could it be increased? Technically yes, but it hasn't been tested and the side-effects would be unknown (and change may not survive upgrade.) Curious- what sort of data is getting passed that is that long?
-
Have you tried to run the Permission Checker? http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/3351/Orion+Website+Error%3A+An+unsecured+or+incorrectly+secured+fault+was+received+from+the+other+party.

There are no systemic integration issues between modules at present. Apologies for the HF deployment issues- certainly that many manual steps isn't ideal, but our goal is to release urgent fixes as quickly as possible. In the future we're looking at a easier deployment option for Hotfixes, which should be ready shortly…

Have we tried to test the alert to see if the trigger action (email) works at all? There could be issue with SMTP config. If you wanted to configure more dynamic alerts / configure on-call rotations, we do have a free product called Alert Central to help with this: http://www.solarwinds.com/alertcentral.aspx
-
If you happen to be using NX4500 or NX6500, SNMP walks of the devices would be super handy. Please feel free to email them to me: rob.hock{at}solarwinds.com

Richard, Negative, we have not performed any internal testing against UAG, it is simply mentioned as an example of a reverse proxy. Proxy configuration can be pretty involved and specific to a vendor / environment, particularly so with apps that utilize AJAX or JS. We can look at putting together a reference config for the…

SolarWinds also has AlertCentral available for free: http://www.solarwinds.com/alertcentral.aspx
-
We did make some performance improvements to Network Atlas in 10.7, however it would be difficult to say whether any of these improvements would impact the issue here. A support ticket would probably be the best course of action. http://www.solarwinds.com/support/

Mike, Apologies for the confusion. We definitely realize the process can definitely be streamlined. In the near future, you should not have to apply a new key at all. Once maintenance is renewed, your NPM instance will automagically pull down the new license and remove the banner.
-
It looks like you are looking for an agent to install on your servers for monitoring? NPM and SAM are agentless and poll-based at present. Is this a firewall issue you are trying to overcome?
-
Have you tried to upgrade to 10.5? We fixed several missing CP issues in 10.4.2 and 10.5.

Surely, create a custom property (ex: CriticalNode) and set value. Then just add a new alert / alert condition to evaluate this. (ex: If CriticalNode = Yes)
