I think this may be because your GigE interface is layer 2. Netflow looks at layer 3. Perhaps this thread from awhile back may help. Netflow Config On 6509

First, you're making a good choice. Second, don't fall victim to the public drama regarding the folding of ChromeOS into Android. It's led to a lot of 'CHROMEBOOKS OBSOLETE TOMORROW', which is nonsense. Here's Goog's official EOL document on ChromeOS devices. End of Life policy - Chrome for Work and Education Help As you…

IIRC, Netpath uses the same agent software as other agent-driven services in NPM (or it certainly looks that way to me in our environment). Have you attempted to install the agent software by downloading the installer from the Manage Agents page? The one unknown is if the Netpath side will recognize the software as…

Detail is your friend here if you're looking for assistance. What do you want to alert on? A vMotion taking place? A vMotion failing? Both? Something else?

Yes, yes, and yes. The temp redirection piece would only be problematic if latency to analyze bit into overall performance - but an evolving dictionary that could identify and remember legit business flows would be a solver. An intuitive method to pre-seed one's dictionary would be useful...like watch the network for a day…

Here too - we have three Watchguard firewalls that report a reboot when NPM(!) restarts. There's something amiss in the rollover or delta on the OID polled. It's extra-strange that NPM's restart is what causes this. We have three other firewalls of the same model which report normally. Yes, they're the same model and…

We use LEM for this - it creates an alert that populates the LEM console and also emails appropriate parties with the locked-out account name, DC from which it originated, and timestamp. EDIT - we also collect information on failed logins along with this. This helps in finding out the source computer or device where the…

In the lower-right box with the listed VMs, select all and then export. You'll be prompted to assign some attributes, and you can pick and choose those to your liking, then run the export job. That should give you a list of the VMs running on the host at that point in time.

My big one is NTA page resources that follow the node/group/etc limitations established when building a view. Right now, let's say I build a copy summary view with nodes A, B, and C visible in the view based on limitations. I can add NTA resources to that page, sure - but said NTA resource has no idea about this…

Are the targets Windows or *nix? Does an snmpwalk performed against one of the servers while the status is 'unknown' complete successfully?

Does removing and reconfiguring the VMAN integration NPM give any different result?

Thanks for the input, everyone! Much appreciated.

We've been an NPM shop since I came onboard four years ago, but were using a variety of tools to grab switch/fw configs. Eventually, keeping up with these dissimilar tools became more of a chore than it was worth, so we trialed NCM, grabbed every device config by the second day, and purchased shortly after. Echoing many…

I always liked the baddies in the original Wolfenstein calling out 'Ach du leiber' every time you blasted them... The splatting sounds from Doom were pretty funny too. These are early '90s, so I guess I'm a little late to the party!

25 TCP SMTP port for non-encrypted messages - outbound to mailserver, I'm assuming. 80 TCP Default additional web server port. If you specify any port other than 80, you must include that port in the URL used to access the web console. For example, if you specify an IP address of 192.168.0.3 and port 8080, the URL used to…

Sounds about right to me - and if you're on 6.0, you *may* be able to vMotion between the vCenters: https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2106952

Recently virtualized our SQL box successfully. Ever since, the command line filter for our component monitor of the sqlservr.exe process does not function as before on two instances, but is fine on two others. The difference that I see is that the still-functional component monitors are talking to SQL2005 instances and the…

A polling engine license is a separate entity from the SLX licensing model, so if you wanted two separate pollers, you'll have to pay. The Web piece is a single entity as well, so if you wanted two completely segregated deployments, I believe you'd have to pay for two. However, based on your design, you could build…

Take a look at this: Best Practices for LEM Memory Allocation tldr - sounds like you may need to give your LEM box more resources. If you run the same report for a day's timeframe and it returns data successfully, I'll wager this is the issue.

It could be useful - I think the ability to turn it 'up and down' in degrees would be essential, however. I like cahunt's idea of presets. If one could build the presets intelligently with knowledge of environment in mind, then you could automate that piece without fear of cybernetic overlord syndrome.

Well, glad I checked - I had the persistent piece wrong.
