I'm in the same boat....kind of a drag, actually.

I can't get behind this, sorry - either removing the downvote button or penalizing people for daring to disagree. What's the point? It makes zero sense.

Re: King County - this is why I love ITIL when executed well. The service catalog takes the mystery out of the IT offerings, and by following the framework, IT has already established it can effectively support an offering if it actually makes it into the catalog.

Webex/gotomeeting when necessary...echoing others' statements here re being able to see what everyone's doing, etc. Our helpdesk uses Bomgar internally to help folks off-net, etc. That's been quite useful from a support perspective.

This is amazing...just wonderful!
-
It's a big what? :-)

This feature request's favorite fictional character? Natty Bumppo. Happy New Year!
-
I hear you loud and clear on that....but as a network guy myself, I know that with a little planning, I was able to roll out xFlow safely with no user impact - even on WAN pipes that aren't that big. Just my experience, though - I'm sure there are some folks on here who may have had some undesirable results.

You are?! Cool.

Five years and hundreds of bumps and votes deep..... If a feature request gets bumped in the forest and there's no one there to hear it, was it really bumped at all?
-
I did! MAW, I MADE ONTO THE PUBLIC INTERNETS!!!
-
Yeah, I didn't see the hint either. The occasional curve in a game of softballs. Oh, well.

@sqlrockstar looks like someone just slapped his dog.....lol. To follow up on my original comment, JBOG (pronounced JAY-bog) stands for Just a Bunch of Geeks.

Even the GIF is exhausting to watch.... Depleted Monday mini-bumpette.

And many times, IT's hands are tied - since they're not allowed to *support* the shadow app. The biggest break I see with shadow stuff is that since the user opportunistically finds something to help them get their job done - and the business doesn't see an unanswered need, because the users aren't necessarily going to…

Exactly my thought....'how did we figure lots of stuff out without this again?'

Reduced eyestrain bump reporting.

You're most welcome, Mr. LaRock. It's a great addition to our stable of Solarwinds products - and I love spreading the good word.
-
Congratulations to the newest MVPs!

It IS complicated, isn't it? We love the functionality, but it's deeper than the Mariana Trench.

A post by Josh Stephens is the equivalent of a ghost haunting thwack's hallowed halls.
-
Danielle, Josh has reached out to me. Thanks for the connect.

Charming... Hackers are coming, or they've already arrived?

Okay, one more small tale from K-12 land....I don't care about extra points, maria.bungau - I just get a kick out of all the stories and want them to continue! We had a couple of rolling wireless carts with laptops in them that circulated among the classrooms - still a pretty common scenario. The carts also had standalone…

I've noticed, too, that change management processes are often resisted or met with chagrin - especially in small-to-medium-sized businesses as jkump mentioned - due to the cultural contagion known as 'firefighting'. I've seen past peers push back simply because the old model - they're notified of a problem that needs…

Ditto for me.
-
Absolutely - thanks for the rundown. Sounds like a good shop in which to work!

Turn off your servers: yeah, some. Mostly old legacy stuff as delivery systems and apps change. Not really cloud-specific, though - we've been reducing footprint for years. Fire engineers: nah. Last time I checked, people with appropriate skillset are still required to administer systems, regardless of their location.…

The only perceived value for split-tunneling for our users is more to conserve our corporate internet bandwidth than anything else nowadays.
