Thanks, Donald! I have responded to your PM. Have a nice day! Regards, Rene

Hi Andy, I think you're right. I am seeing more complaints about the lack of direction-awareness with Netflow-products from other vendors. For example, here: www.plixer.com/.../. You can call this a feature (that the ASA supports bidirectional flows), but there might be a bug as well. Will be talking to Donald in PM, and…

Hi Donald, Received the 8.2.1.12 firmware from Cisco, and put it in my ASA. The interface-names-issue is gone now, but now I'm seeing strange things in NTA regarding "Transmitted" and "Received". I have been talking to Solarwinds Support about this, sending Wireshark-captures etc. but we cannot really figure out what's…

OK, great! I will open a TAC case for this... Regards, Rene

Ah, great! I was only looking in the web interface of NPM. Have changed the retention to just one day now, in order to clean up the database overnight. Thanks for support! Regards, Rene

Hi Brandon and others, Am running the IPX-version of IPAM, and have some questions / wishes / comments as well. My list is absolutely not complete, but here are my current entries: * cosmetic one: when a scan completes, report it in the logs as (say) 3m15s instead of 3.25 minutes; * have a tab called 'View subnet scan…

Well, verify using NTA... I am not sure. The only ORION environment that we have, is our production environment. Am a bit afraid of installing an NTA-eval on top of that... Otherwise, we will have to setup a dedicated test environment in a VM or so. OK, for now, let's close this conversation, as my question about…

Hi Donald, Regarding this firmware-upgrade: on Cisco's support website I only version 8.2.1.11 over the last few weeks. I cannot find 8.2.1.12 somewhere. I know you're not Cisco, but can you shed some light in this? Regards, Rene
-
Hi Chris, Thanks for the reply! I've downloaded the latest LicenseManager to the ORION machine. When starting this, it really "sees" the IPAM License, but it doesn't show the correct one. I'll contact Support for that, because we definitely need to get the correct license code in there. Thanks again, regards, Rene

Hi Eric, Thanks for the tip! But where do I execute the script-statement that you mention here? Regards, Rene

I have used MIB-Walk from the Toolset to walk the MIBs and determine the support MIBs, but unfortunately the 802.11MIB is not there. Here's what IS supported: AirPair-MIB, BLC, BRIDGE-MIB, CISCOTRAP-MIB, END, ENTITY-MIB, EtherLike-MIB, Ethernet-MIB, IF-MIB, IP-MIB, OLD-CISCO-SYS-MIB, OLD-CISCO-SYSTEM-MIB, OLD-CISCO-TS-MIB,…

Hi Andy, Thanks for these suggestions! Have been trying to find the "Syslog retention" parameter, but cannot seem to find it. All I see, is "Event retention". Where do I have to look? Regards, Rene
-
OK, Chris, great! Add that feature request for me please, and I will ask our HP sales to advise about a switch that support sFlow 5. You can close this post now, if you like; I think my questions have been answered. Regards, Rene

Great, that works! Thnx, Rene

Hi Yann and others, I am planning a move of my db as well: move it from the NPM-box where it is now, to a dedicated machine that just runs SQL and nothing more. My Orion-config consists of the following: * NPM SL500 * NCM SL100 * APM ALX * IPAM SLX What I have seen and read, is that NPM, APM and IPAM all use the same…

Great, Donald and Chris, thanks for the feedback. We will definitely upgrade some of the ASA's to 8.2.x and then re-evaluate NTA. Thanks again! Regards, Rene
-
And for the time being: can you suggest a NetFlow v9 tool, that I can use to verify ASA's NetFlow-support?
-
Thanks, Floyd. Is NetFlow-v9 support somewhere on the roadmap for NetFlow Realtime? Regards, Rene

Hi mavturner, Point is: I do not know where to perform the activation. Server has internet access. Am running NPM 10 (non-SP1) and IPAM 1.6.0. Thanks, regards, Rene

Hi Brandon, This is what NPM says: Node Status Node status is Up. Thanks, Chris! According to that same matrix, there is not a ProCurve that supports sFlow v5, as I see it. Of course I understand that SolarWinds only mentions protocols that are supported, and not brands & types, but do you (or anyone) know of HP switches that are correctly supported by NTA? Thanks in advance, regards,…

Hi Jon, We've found out that one of the disks in our SQL Server was running out of disk space. Also, we found out that one of the devices that we're monitoring was sending loooooooaads of syslogs to our NPM (we received 480 syslog-messages from one device each second!). Obviously, the large number of syslogs caused the DB…

Brilliant, Jesper! I'll try that one for sure! Thnx, Rene

Hi Greg, There was no entry in the Programs & Features section of the Control Panel. Also, the Installer does not have a Remove option. But after installing the software for the second time, it created the desired entry in Programs & Featues. So, I think something went wrong registering the software correctly at the first…

Thanks for the quick replies to my seemingly stupid question... But, in Vista 'Add / Remove Programs' is called 'Programs and Features', and - as I stated in my question - there the Engineer's Toolset is not listed. Greg hinted to re-run the Setup program, in order to remove the software. I will try that and let you know,…

Hi Chris! Thanks for the reply. I have dived deeper into the SLA features of the ASA OS, and it is true: only a subset of IP SLA has been implemented in ASA (as far as I can see). For example, you can use IP SLA for static route tracking (for ISP Failover), and use ICMP-ECHO for that. However, ICMP-ECHO is the only…

Same here... Did you fix this in the meantime? We have an Advanced Alert that is fired when disk space is above nn%. I know Basic Alerts can do that as well, but with Basic Alerts we have to select for what volumes the Alert should be triggered, wheras Advanced Alerts are valid for all nodes/volumes in the database. The…

Hi Paul and others, Nice question... I have wondered myself a few times how this can be done... But, in the slipstream of this question, I have the following question to the NPM design team: why is there no global SMTP Server and SMTP Credentials for the alerting engine? Now, we have to enter SMTP Server and Credentials on…
