So is that something we need to purchase from Plixer to get the Flash maps and Solarwinds integration? I like that first shot with the bandwidth usage/direction...its like WeatherMap meets 3D :)
-
Thank you very much Dave! I will give this a shot when I get into the office. Thanks for the taking the time!

Do you see Weathermap as complementary to our existing Map Maker? What are the key features of Network Weathermap that you'd like to see implemented in Orion NPM? We particularly like the immediate "here's how saturated the pipe is" aspect of the Weather Map. We can put this on a big monitor, glance up and quickly see one…

Thank you Dave!! Can I ask you how I would specifiy a specific host?

We have the same problem with 3.0 (hanging during the install process). We called Support and it eventually did install completely (reinstalling over and over until it went through). A hotfix would be much appreciated, since during the Configuration Wizard, it also hangs sometimes during this process. Environment: Windows…

we use Scrutinizer also. it is way better than the Solarwinds netflow tool. http://www.plixer.com/products/scrutinizer_solarwinds.php You think so? Mind if I ask why you think that?

Note that you might also want to consider Kiwi Syslog ($245.00) and Log Viewer. They save data to a file. The Orion database is meant for a subset of data and not for long-term storage. Databases have limitations with that kind of data. www.solarwinds.com/.../ I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that :( We sold management…

Basically when we go to add the pix to the netflow configurator it says a connection could not be made to the specified device, even though the device shows up and works fine through Orion but neflow will not gather data from it. Then when we go to add our 3640 the configurator says the device specified does not allow the…

I "think" so. The MIB database file is just one big file you download anyway. It works with their products that reference MIBs (Toolset, Orion, etc). I don't know enough to answer whether or not the MIB database file has changed since 7.x, but I wouldn't think so. Someone from SW will have to chime on that one to confirm.

It appears that is not the case in my example. I am polling an F5 for pool member status/stats. The mibs I am polling are: Pool Name: 1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.1.1.8.2.1.1 Pool Member IP Address: 1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.1.1.8.2.1.2 Pool Max connections: 1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.1.1.8.2.1.18 Pool Current connections: 1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.1.1.8.2.1.19…

Orion has a few ways to slice this. The first thing you should do is use the Custom Property Editor to create a property you can use to differentiate the various groups of nodes. Maybe "LocationType" with values like "Store", "Distribution Center", and "Corporate Office". Then you can filter your Top 10 resource like this:…

We have an SP for that now and it also helps with post upgrade. The 2hr charts still have the drop down to change to other intervals, including the old 15 min view. Andy Is the SP something that existing v3 users should be applying as well?

Ok, I'm using Report writer and it just hangs...it has a REALLY hard time pulling the report even on "past 7 days". Is there a way to tell how much data is being collected during a 24 hour period? I think I may have to try an alternate product
-
Thanks Bill. I'll look into that. So avoid the standard viewer and do it via Report Writer...got it.
-
I thought this only shows the stats for one of the devices in the link? The Cacti shows interfaces on both sides. I know there were talks of incorporating the Weather Map functionality into Orion, but I haven't checked if the latest release works the same way.
-
Thanks guys. I think we'll wait for the "official" supported release from you guys. Cheers

On the Trigger Condition tab of your Advanced Alert the "Type of Property to Monitor" must be of type "APM-Monitor" for the monitor name variable to work correctly. I believe you currently have your Monitor Type set to "APM-Application" in your Advanced Alert. Thank you aLTeReGo, that fixed my alerts!

I'm very interested in what responses this thread gets. I have the same question/doubt as the original poster.

We use Splunk. We use it more than anything for our firewall logs. When we send logs to Orion, it eats up a steady chunk of CPU on the box and searching the logs often times out when done via the Orion web interface. No real integration though, just log into a different interface to view them :(
-
Were you able to get the correct CPU and memory utilization stats?
-
Thanks A LOT!! I have googled this to death and never managed to find such good articles as the one you found (the italian one). My AIX monitoring is up!
-
Open a ticket with support, upload them the file. They'll have it in their next MIB file release (new one every week).

^ Agree completely, we monitor switches all the time here, some down to every individual port, they aren't even tickled
