Put the servers that you don't want to alert when the router goes down in a group, then configure a dependency where the router is the parent and the group is the child. This way you will get an alert when the router goes down, however the nodes in the child group will have a status of "unknown" and won't alert out.

My suggestion would be: 1) Create a SAM template, using the HTTP Monitor component type. 2) Enter "Welcome to IIS 7" or whatever string you want to look for in the "Search String:" field of the component configuration 3) Set "Fail If Found:" to Yes. 4) Apply this template to all your web servers. The ones that return the…

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SolarWinds\InformationService\SolarWinds.InformationService.Core.dll" The correct location is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SolarWinds\InformationService\V3\SolarWinds.InformationService.Core.dll

I've noticed that with NPM 12, if we reboot the primary poller, we also need to reboot out NTA server, otherwise the Netflow service shows as down on the primary and we don't get any Netflow collections in the NTA tab.

In the subject or body of the email add the following: To display the IP: ${N=SwisEntity;M=IP_Address} To display a link to the device: ${N=SwisEntity;M=DetailsUrl}

Do the WPM recordings playback OK from your playback locations? Or it won't even complete once when doing the initial recording? Have you tried clicking separately on the username and password fields and then Login? Sometimes tabbing doesn't work as you would expect and a direct click is best.

If the DPA Integration Module is affecting alerting in NPM, can we please have this removed from the standard NPM/SAM installer packages? We aren't licensed for DPA, so it makes no sense that we should have to go and uninstall the integration module to get our alerting working as it was prior to the upgrade. Sorry this…

Seeing the same thing here, it's very annoying not being able to download the individual hot fixes for example for SRM 6.5 HF1 when the "offline" jumbo sized patcher can't actually function without an online connection. More specifically - why does the offline package that was downloaded this morning need to update itself?…

Ours are out by 4 hours when using the custom time period, ticket 1004357 was opened on 6/20/2016 for this, I believe it's in the hands of the application developers.

Do you mean you want to authenticate via AD, as opposed to standalone? You would need to make sure that: a) when you run the Configuration Wizard, you choose the option to "Yes - Enable automatic login using Windows Authentication" and b) Make sure your Orion accounts are configured as "Windows", as opposed to "Orion".

I've experienced this myself, it sometimes shows, sometimes it doesn't, it's not clear to me why this happens, when I don't have the "Reset this alert when trigger condition is no longer true (Recommended)" field available I use the following workaround: 1) Choose "Create a special reset condition for this alert" 2) Click…

The easiest way to do this would be to create two alerts. One that triggers when statistic reaches 2. Another that triggers when statistic reaches 4. Downside of this approach is that when statistic drops from 4 to below 2 you'll get two alert resets and associated reset messages.

Unfortunately it's not possible to use external storage like that, the max AFAIK with LEM 5.6 and what we are using is 2 TB of disk for logs/data. This is presented to the VMware image from a SAN array, connected via FC. Given current usage that will prob give us approx a year of alert retention

Just got a call from support - the new offline installer package is available on the portal.....

It wouldn't surprise me if VMan prevents adding additional vCenters while the license is expired. Particularly because it's licensed on a number of cores basis - without being able to validate the installed license you could otherwise monitor more cores than you were originally licensed for.

You can go into the specific interface and manually set the interface speed to match the actual bandwidth, i.e. set it to 20 Mbit/sec instead of 1000. This way the percentage thresholds and graphing will actually be of some value. 1. Click on the specific interface (brings up Interface Details page). 2. Click on Edit…

If you need the missing data then restore from the SQL backup you took prior to your truncate commands. You should have one running each night/early morning? And definitely would suggest an additional backup to restore to prior to any kind of DB changes.

When you click on the alert name it should take you to the active alert details, where you can click on the Acknowledge button in the Alert Status Overview? Not exactly what you were asking for, one more mouse click required. Does the "Service Desk" account have "Allow Account to Clear Events, Acknowledge Alerts and…

You could set the alert your team receives to only act on a select group of nodes, then set to either include or exclude the nodes that the other team receives but that your team doesn't care about. Default scope of alert is "All objects in my environment" When you click on "Only following set of objects" you get…

fitzy141, did you have trouble with the Information Service v3 right from when you upgraded to NPM 11.5, or did it start occurring after you installed Orion Hotfix4 or NPM HF1 by any chance? Once we deployed Orion Hotfix4 and NPM HF1, the only way we could get things back up and running on our pollers was to restore the…

We used to send emails to XXXXXX@vtext.com until Verizon recently ended support for that, we then had to go to a third party vendor to do the translation.

Per Solarwinds support (Case 393642) "Currently there is no support for modification to the community string of the SNMP. The SNMP is an incoming only and is not modifiable. It is possible in future versions of LEM that this will be added to integrated into other Solarwinds products" Please consider adding this…

In my experience, you won't be getting any alerting, and Netflow (NTA) if installed will also be out to lunch (assuming all primary poller services are down as opposed to just a couple of them). Easiest way to get notification if there's an issue, assign the Orion Server SAM template (available on thwack) to your primary…

It's going to do a full backup to the new path, because it "touches" the destination to see what needs to be written/what is already there. When you change the path, it's like configuring a whole new backup from scratch. Now if you do want to continue the previous incrementals in the new path, you could try copying the…

Hi dfairles, Did you ever get resolution on this (False?) alert/warning? I'm seeing it on all our Linux nodes running Orion agents, and I am certain that the top level ESX hosts are being monitored via SNMP, and not via agents themselves.
-
Try uninstalling the DPA integration module on the primary poller.
-
You would want to deploy an additional web server package for each Orion component you have installed on your primary poller. The only exception would be for NTA, where it only runs on the primary. So if you just have NPM and SAM installed, deploy those additional web server components. The reason being, the additional web…

All our dependencies for our Groups were broken after upgrading to NPM 11.5, I ended up just deleting the groups and dependencies and re-recreating them, wasn't worth the risk messing around after the first time when our alerting didn't work as expected (parent was in the group, went down, and never alerted). That worked…

So in the Reset Condition page, which of these did you select?
