  • That's correct, they are on their own servers. However when I upgrade NPM to 12.0 then I will also need to upgrade STM-Profiler to 6.3 and VMAN to 6.3.2 to allow them to talk to the other Orion modules.
  • Here's the code: --begin code --Query from volumes and nodes tables with icons and links SELECT v.Caption as VolumeName,'/Orion/NetPerfMon/VolumeDetails.aspx?NetObject=V%3a' + ToString(v.volumeid) AS [_LinkFor_VolumeName] , '/NetPerfMon/images/Volumes/' + v.icon AS [_IconFor_VolumeName] , VolumeResponding , v.lastsync ,…
  • Had this issue pop up today, instead of bringing the environment down for the corrective action of reinstalling Job Engine v1 and v2 and Collector as described above, I instead moved the node to another poller. The initial poll problem then cleared up for that particular node. Not really a fix but a work around.
  • Just to close the loop on this, per support my issue is a common one, and the only workaround is to remove and then re-enable VMan integration with the appliance in Orion.
  • Are you saving the location of the xml file when you click on Save Task in step 7? You may want to create a specific folder that contains all your unmanage scheduled task xml files. I think it saves it to the clipboard but doesn't hurt to save it to Notepad so you can see it. And then paste it in Step 13 (or navigate to…
  • Not sure if your issue is fixed with HotFix1 for NPM: "SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor 11.5 Hotfix 1 ------------------------------------------------------------ Hotfix 1 addresses the following issues: 1. Interfaces: Re-running the Configuration Wizard sets both the warning and critical thresholds for…
  • I believe that is referring to the standalone (Profiler) version of SRM, as that goes on to mention SRM Orion Module, etc...
  • I believe it is the 2nd scenario you describe, but can't find any documentation that definitively states as such.
  • I attempted to try that by selecting multiple user accounts, then checking the checkbox that allows me to edit the menu bars defined....however in the case where I have some one (User A) with access to say 4 tabs, and another (User B) with access to just 1, when I remove the SRM tab the User B account with access to just 1…
  • The other thing to watch for is: If you are only alerting at the application level, which has say 5 components. One component goes down, application alert fires. If an additional component within that app monitor goes down - you won't be notified, as the application is already "down". So you would generally want alerting…
  • What version are you running on your VMan appliance? Needs to be at least at 7.2 to keep the integration running if I recall correctly.
  • So we recently upgraded from SRM Orion 6.3 to SRM 6.4, and I can now add the Isilon arrays running 8.0.0.2. Unsure if it also works with 8.0.0.4.
  • Here's what the default alert shows for me in the logic, you could delete the "Is Deleted" field if you didn't want it to fire on that? Our network guys wanted to be alerted in both cases so I kept that in:
  • One thing that has changed in NPM 11.5 versus NPM 10.x is that the dependency cannot be part of the group it affects, it must be outside it. Do you have 10.0.1.51 as the dependency for the group which includes 10.0.1.52 and 10.0.1.30? And then 10.0.1.30 as the dependency for the group which includes 10.0.1.31 and .32?
  • Hi Serena, For the link you sent: SolarWinds | SolarWinds Broadens Systems Portfolio with Unified Infrastructure Management Enhancements It seems to include components that haven't been released yet? Specifically SAM 6.7, VMan 8.3 and SRM 6.7? Also is Server Configuration Monitor (SCM 1.0) an add-on like NCM, that will run…
  • Just finished deploying HF4 - still seeing JobEngine v2 failures: Faulting application name: SWJobEngineWorker2.exe, version: 2.13.0.1337, time stamp: 0x5ae9c63e Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.3.9600.18895, time stamp: 0x5a4b127e Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x000e6214 Faulting process id: 0xe94…
  • Yes it's bundled in with the SAM installer - total pain as we have no license for it, and it also interferes with our alerting. Have to wait till all the pollers are upgraded, and then go back into the primary, uninstall DPA, then rerun the config wizard. Please consider making DPA a standalone installer so those that…
  • After a great experience working with Radu from Solarwinds support, and several trouble shooting steps including sending Orion diagnostics, an MIB walk thru and a Wireshark trace, the following process allows us to add the interfaces on our Cisco 3800 series routers: 1. Go to Add Nodes 2. Choose "Network Discovery" 3.…
  • Yes, unfortunately even though you may have paid for a "site license", each polling "engine" is artificially limited to about 12k elements. Once you hit that, even if you have much more hardware resources than actually required, you have to pony up for an additional polling engine (which can either go on a new server or…
  • Thanks for the reply Shane. The scenario was, we had upgraded to NPM 12, and some (but not all) of our alerting was not working. We aren't licensed for DPA, so DPA isn't installed, however the DPA Integration Module was installed by the upgrade process. I just uninstalled the DPA Integration Module and it looks like our…
  • That's the logic we use, works fine.
  • Yeah you won't be able to interact while it's playing back a recording in the recording tool. I was thinking more for the initial recording. But if it's playing Ok at the remote playback location(s) but not via the Recording tool I would open a ticket with support and show them the issue via Webex and see what they suggest.
  • Hi Tony, I had a Webex with support on this a little while ago, apparently the Devs are working on a fix for this, confirmed as a bug, ETA is tomorrow or Monday.
  • Per this post: "The current version of LEM does not use a SQL database at all; it is backed by a proprietary storage engine based on Lucene."
  • Looks like this been implemented in LEM version 6.3 currently available as an RC: "LEM monitoring through NPM and the Orion Web Console You can configure SNMP version 3 on your LEM appliance to communicate with SolarWinds Network Performance Manager (NPM) through ports 161 and 162. This configuration allows you to monitor…
  • Just to clarify: We would like to be able to change the community string so that the LEM virtual appliance could be monitored along with our other network devices via Orion Network Performance Monitor (NPM), specifically so we can monitor its disk utilization without logging into its management interface via SSH. We don't…
  • We've had problems with the agents (actually the SWJobEngineSvc2.exe and SWJobEngineWorker2x64.exe processes that the agent process spawns) taking up significant amounts of RAM (300-400+ MB), we've gone back to WMI/SNMP until we understand why this is happening. Also when you are monitoring via agent the server will often…
  • In Web Alert Manager in NPM 11.5, the trigger delay is set at the bottom of the trigger config page (just below what the OPs screenshot shows). The reason I asked what reset option the OP chose was that he stated "To confirm, there is no reset action configured."
  • Ever since we got bitten with the NPM 11.5 upgrade issues, we always wait at least a few weeks prior to upgrading to the latest release, while reviewing the Thwack forums for possible horror stories from the early adopters.
