Here are the main things missing when switching from appliance VMan to Orion VMan: Features Available in VMAN 8.1 (Orion) Once we realized these features were missing we had to switch back to the VMan appliance, we now have VMan appliance running with the primary license and VMan Orion with secondary license - no…

neo, I didn't open a ticket for this. I ended up doing workaround #2: Creating and deleting an account called "DirectLink" to get my PDFs working again: NPM Scheduled report export to PDF shows login page - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support

Hi Tony, Sorry I was just talking about availability of the 2017.3 Offline hotfix installer package (for NPM 12.2 etc). That won't work for you when you are at a lower version number.
-
I believe Server 2012 won't be supported for the next major release, but works perfectly fine for the currently released versions (NPM 12.3, VMan Orion 8.2 etc).
-
Yes, in the installer we need to be able to deselect hotfix upgrades as we already can for the main Orion modules.

Hi ">aLTeReGo That's my case 910796, it was actually opened on 12/10, we requested escalation for this to US support on 12/18 and really haven't had much progress or any sign of actual escalation, could you please check what's going on there if possible? In our case we are monitoring IIS on the server running the agent.…

Hi Brian, had a breakthrough with support on this today. Turned out to be an issue with SRM licencing in Orion, there was an issue with Orion getting licensing from our standalone SRM Profiler instance. Symptom: Look in X:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Storage Manager Server\webapps\ROOT\logs\WebServer.log, if you see the…

We deployed a new certificate per supports request, still having the same problems where no data is being collected for our Isilons (either v.7.x.x.x or v.8.x.x.x).
-
Not sure on any updates on SRM Profiler. In fact I have to withdraw my previous success story, while SRM Orion 6.4 does successfully inventory the Isilon disks, it doesn't actually collect any data (after applying SRM 6.4 HF1).
-
Yes byrona, I've had the same issue...."RCs are supported just like GAs......." then once RC is installed and problems occur...."We need you to upgrade to the GA release....."

I think your plan should work, once you have 52 and 30 in another group. The dependency will cause any of the groups dependent on it to go into an unreachable status (and not page out). First you need to define all the groups that you don't want alerting on based on the parent. So create a group for 52 and 30 Then you have…

Updated .NET to 4.7.2 , still seeing errors for SWJobEngineWorker2s:
-
Thanks alterego, we are at 4.6.01590. So while I was on hold for support, had an issue where the Info service was running hot at over 50% of overall cpu, and GUI was out to lunch: So recycled services on our Primary poller. Interestingly, haven't seen any more JobEnginev2 failures since then....knock on wood. Running DB…
-
Yes, we had alerting working with WPM 2.1. What do you have listed in the drop down menu?
-
Thanks Steve, maybe it is related to my timing of reboots/restarts. I'll make sure the primary is fully up before playing with the additional pollers in the future.
-
You can access top under the appliance menu, when using the console with the cmc account, to get a real-time view of cpu/mem util etc, as Nicole says any longer term historic data can be obtained via vm tools etc.

I'm confused as well, it shows SRM-Profiler (Server) listed as 6.2.1 - dated 02 Feb 2016, however I have already been running Profiler 6.2.1 for several months? Is this actually 6.2.2 but mislabelled?
-
Thanks for the clarification, but I would rather not run the updater again for all modules. Can you please add the SRM 6.5 HF1 download to my Customer support portal?
-
Thanks, got a link from support to the following article which resolved my issue (accept prompt to upgrade player and allow wizard to finish, then open the deprecated version) Success Center

borgan: Absolutely stay on IPAM 4.5.

Thanks Bart, I ended up redeploying the agent on one of our dev servers, this time without selecting the AppInsight for IIS resource, We are just monitoring the following: Status - via ICMP CPU+Memory Physical Mem Virtual mem C:\ D:\ Ethernet adapter Asset Inventory Windows Scheduled Tasks
-
Thanks for the detailed info aLTeReGo, good to know that up to 640MB of RAM util can be expected when using AppInsight for IIS.
-
Thanks for the reply. So if I have say 1000 servers running a particular app monitor, and I have an agent on 10 of them, if the app template is set to use agent it will use the agent on those 10 and use (in my case) WMI for the other 990?
-
RaviK: The config wizard log files should be stored for the last few runs at least: C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion

I think there was rumors but no confirmation that they are looking to include a standalone browser package in the next major release of WPM. Which will be fantastic in that I can abandon Internet Explorer. As an aside we've found the best performance for WPM playback locations to be via physical machines running Windows 7.…

Hi Serena, I can't really get into the details, but what we do is have each app area in a folder, and then we keep track of that cost in the Cloud Cost (EC2) view. So it's more of a virtual chargeback to keep track of how much each app is costing to support - there are no actual chargebacks in our scenario.
-
Has this been resolved in NPM 12.0? Does that work OK with .Net 4.6.1 without additional support patches? Thanks.
-
I had to call in to support to follow up on an unrelated issue yesterday and finally got a person to pickup after about 40 minutes in the queue. At which point I was disconnected while he checked with the tech that had originally taken the online case. I hoped for a little while for a quick call back but that didn't happen.

Orion 2017.1 HF1 didn't fix my issue where any scheduled PDF reports show a login screen instead. I've only seen this behavior with NPM 12.1, NPM 12.0.1 didn't have this problem. Workaround for me was to deselect PDF as an output option and stick with .xls and .csv for now.

Hi, Please note, the Hot Fix 3 patch that's available to download off the portal as of today. 3/27/2015 still has the incorrect instructions on which directory to replace the InformationService.Core.dll file..... Thanks.
