mesverrum Thanks. Also once we discover the Vcenter, it will list down the nodes under it right... So if i need to alert on the underlying hosts then i will have to manage those as well, correct?

GoldTipu Do we need to have anything specifically configured on the device side for hardware health to be detected? I have different types of devices for a customer which included H3C/HP, Aruba 3810, Palo Alto and Riverbed... In order to work with Network folks i wanted to understand if i need to tell them to setup the…

yes I did that infact but I guess what Leon suggested I need to do that first...need to get the conf file from Linux admin and verify what value is getting sent and post that I can check with MIB and the OID that's required.

hi sankeyj Just wanted to know in terms of solarwinds configuration for monitoring AIX devices. Its just a simple process of keying the credentials of SNMP given by AIX admins right? Or there are any things to be taken care?
-
did u try installing agent manually from the device end? it may work..
-
thanks.. i did try this today and its working fine... need to do it twice but thats fine.. i thought it would take time for bulk devices but its pretty smooth...
-
But this is still 2 step method and not a good one if u have bulk devices... I would say previous discovery was better and there is actually no need of the new wizard as the function is same without bulk add option.

Yes i m checking with my internal team and also requested Support engineer to check my setup and confirm if something is wrong. Will keep you updated...

I didn't go ahead and do any of those steps like shrinking DB and others. Instead deployed Orion Platform Hotfix 6 just a day back. Will monitor and let u guys know, Also i found few queries which were getting written to DB on daily basis as it was coming from alerting side. I stopped this and i started seeing better…
-
i got your SNOW part... according to me whatever u are getting currently in SNOW is because those alerts will be configured at solarwinds level... I would suggest that u check in solarwinds once as those events get logged onto console due one action configured inside an alert...
-
thanks for the detail... in my case it was user permission issue so didnt have to try the commands u mentioned but will note it for future use...
-
Thanks for the info. Let me see if that can be ran. I recently tried running query for de fragmentation on DB but it ended up in mess. Orion stopped working due to high utilization. Had to disable the query again to have it running fine as before
-
one question on this... So it would do a first poll which is of 5 min and then check the condition, lets say it is configured to check for 'less than 300 seconds', and if device was rebooted in last 5 min then it will alert?
-
Yes this option i m aware..but was wondering why it does detect...i mean once the device is replaced and new interface comes, then the redisvoery should bring only new interfaces...but again there is a KB mentioned which Network folks should apply...so i will take both options...
-
m mainly looking for the settings that needs to be done from ESX/ESXi end... Coz SNMP is working fine but I need the volumes and interfaces also to be populated.... In our other instance we have ESX 6.x version for which we do see all details...

is this Vmware events part available in SRM Orion module as well?
-
I also see an issue with offline installer for NPM 12.2. Its routing to a page and stating 'Page not is available'.
-
This talks about steps from Network side. I am looking from Orion Tool, if there is anything that can be checked,
-
that gives some breather for me...yeah monitoring of the specs would have to be watched to see if its giving any problem. maybe i will try out with your suggestion to start with for Solarwinds and DB server both.
-
Yes reboot might help, sometimes even if the services are running fine, this error comes. And check the IIS also.
-
Sorry I couldn't respond... Guess you resolved on your own... :-)
-
Thanks Serena...
-
Ok got it... Does iLO version 2 and 3 have option to setup community string?
-
try disabling UAC in registry for 1 server and see if that works...
-
Let us know if that worked...
-
you can tag the incoming trap and then alert based on that using SQL query... or if email option is there then u can also put trigger action in trap viewer....
-
aLTeReGo I was trying out the template and i may need some more help. So the txt file gets generated everyday in below format to a particular path. So how do i mention the path in the arguments so that it finds this txt file? I will put the string in the regex parameter.
-
strange... possible, try restarting SolarWinds Services and see if that resolves. OR try in different browser once before restarting the service.
-
aLTeReGo One quick query i have... if there is HA setup and i have the integration to Service Now where in i am actually using a Powershell script in the alert trigger action,to send the details to SNOW. Now, when the instance gets failed over to Secondary, will my trigger actions and alerting be in-tact? This question…

one question.. what are these devices, network or server?
