In Windows 2008 R2, location is: C:\Users\All Users\Solarwinds\Discovery Engine Thanks for the first clue

Be aware that this hotfix, although for once has been provided with a scripted install instead of a DIY patch (Amen!), requires a server restart and a Configuration Wizzard run. !!! THIS SHOULD BE WRITTEN IN THE RELEASE NOTES !!! Kinda sucks to know once done and have no more than a few minutes of allowed downtime... I had…

I ordered some items for a client via the thwack Store... I simply changed the name & address at check out and got an happy client that likes his polo . Would that work?

Wow! this topic was created in 2007. 6 years later, despite all request from users, this feature is still not embedded in NPM. I can say that I am disapointed, as SNMP traps are part of the foundation of monitoring... We desperately need that feature. This will be a deal breaker at next maintenance support renewal.
-
I just saw that NPM 11 RC2 went out... Is it possible to know what has changed to see if I need to upgrade right away? Thanks,
-
I've created a feature request here: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/3420 Please vote so it gets the PM attention. Thanks DEAL AVAILABLE✕Go through this link to get free trial and tools, no code needed. Limited time offer. CHECK OUT DEALDeal from ShowIP1

Pretty pleeeeeeeaaaaaaseee!!! This would be a big big plus to the SW offering!

Just have a look at the feature request here on thwack to see what's missing to the users eye

I have a similar problem where some ICMP-only monitored devices are in the Nodes table, but do not show up in the NodeIPAddresses table. When I merge the 2 tables together to have a full inventory view of IPs seen by my nodes, I get multiple NULL values on the join. Is there a way to trigger an update of the…

This looks good! However, for some reason, I can't link the group name to the group page. Could you upload the report to Content Exchange so I can see what i'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
-
Hopefully, there will be a way to create alerts from received traps!
-
I know you inquired about SWQL, but here's a start in SQL that could help you. Using the following SQL query to define your data source in a "custom table" web resource, you could then build a similar table. SELECT A.nodeid, A.rowid, CAST(A.value AS INT) AS SNMP_TABLE_COLUMN1, CAST(B.value AS INT) AS SNMP_TABLE_COLUMN2,…

I would (am) run both kind of devices in the same SW instance, and have different alerts based on a custom property (Prod, pre-prod, R&D). This way you could set up alert rules that have different outcomes without loosing the visibility (ie: monitor the server but not be being paged/emailed at night or excluding those…

Are you seeing errors on the Router port as well? Both Router & switched port are configured on the same speed & duplex? Like mentioned, you can change port on the switch, but as well on the router. You also mentioned this is recurring every 3 weeks. is it always after 21 days or is is fluctuating a bit?
-
One of the usual suspect of Error & Discards on an interface is a speed or duplex issue. It usually happens when 2 devices linked together cant auto-negotiate during handshake. To troubleshoot, try forcing on one end on the interface (ideally on your switch, reset the counters and monitor. If it fixes your issue, leave it…

The Network sonar discovery: we use it on a weekly basis, and the interface is dysfunctional, sluggish and bugged... has a lot of place for improvement. My other annoying things are the limit on traps/syslog, the number of alerting engines (1 per type), the alert rules, worldmap...

If you have an OOB monitor card in the system, you could use undp to poll server status. With Dell DRAC, I can monitor pretty much anything, but RAID & disks status.
-
I was trying to do the same for a long time... http://thwack.solarwinds.com/message/22787 While searching if this was implemented in NPM 11, I found these 2 Feature requests * http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/3534 * http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2146 I encourage to vote on these 2 ideas so they get the PM…

It looks like it might be possible, using other software to interface. I have not tested it... http://www.snmp-informant.com/index.htm Other than that, I also also found some bits of information provided in: Monitor Windows Services via SNMP. It looks like it is not going to be a piece of cake and you might have a look at…

Just upgraded, everything went well! Is there any way to put groups on the maps instead of only nodes? We have many sites spreaded around the province, and would like to put my groups of devices to make it clearer...

I've check and my RC's are gone too for my two SWIDs... Hopefully NPM v10.7GA will be out soon
-
I had the exact same symptoms. SNMP Location & contacts were not written to the DB, and the NPM Server was able to connect through snmp to the windows machine. After a clean-up in the monitored interfaces, the SNMP Location & contact was polled, and everything came back ok! Weird!

I just think they should invest another 30k to get somebody to do the job properly, but I wont say it out loud as it would not be politically correct. Instead, I will take a deep breath and invite you to do exactly as I would do in your position. Either you invest your time and energy to understand the mentality of the…

Annoying isn't it? The fact they are not committing to any SLA, but they want our maintenance fee so bad... :\

For newer Orion platforms, simply search for the "SkipNotMonitoredDevices" in the advanced configuration access page (Advanced Configuration access in Orion Platform )
-
If you want to disable the storing of unmonitored devices' traps, check your Trap Service configuration file at C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Orion\SWTrapService.exe.config There's a setting in this file where you can tell the service not to process traps from unmanaged nodes. I would believe that the default…

I had the same issue, and was able to fix it partially.... The URL was in https, although it was specifying :80 at the end of the domain... I fixed it using rob.hock SQL query. That fixed the PDF files, and they are now generated, but I still have the same problem with the XLS files in the same email. I opened Case #608493…

I have the same issue here... W3WP is crashing about 2-3 times an hour... Any update or lead would be appreciated. SW support staff are not in a hurry to call me back
