An agent is a quick fix for companies with the Network ACL rule of deny any any as the standard! My company chose SolarWinds as our enterprise standard but as we rolled it out to our environment we were plagued by some business lines where the IT folks do things a little differently. My company acquires companies now and…

I was able to get HA working across a WAN. This is not endorsed or supported by SolarWinds but they are aware this is possible.
-
Yes Raul, that is correct!
-
Are you asking if we seeded the SQL DB for SolarWinds HA? If that is the question the answer is no.

Hi serena! Thanks for your reply. I don't have a support case for this issue but have been able to find a hacky workaround for this issue. I downloaded and used the ONLINE installer for the first component of SolarWinds (Just NPM and the Core) and then I am able to use the offline installer for (SAM, VMAN, WPM) with a…

Correct Richard. The VIPS are in a different network space and there is no layer-2 connectivity between the sites for the unrouted VLAN (It never routes out of the VMware servers)
-
We are NOT using routable IP addresses in our environment. As a matter of fact the secondary NIC doesn't even route in VMWare. It never hits a port. So as you said the HA docs suggest how to configure across a WAN there is an assumption there is connectivity between site 1 Pool IP 1, Site 2 Pool IP 2 and VIP to have…

Hi Chris, In my case we are using Windows 2008 R2 for our whole monitoring environment. -Phil

Hello community, This still seems to be an issue in ESXi 5.5 as we have tried this in ESXi 5.1 to no avail... I sure wish(so does our Information Protection Team) that there was a workaround... -Phil

Hi Prawij, I have experienced this and opened a ticket on 15 Jun 2018 11:03 PM, but SolarWinds was not able to re-create it. Good Luck.. . For your reference here is my ticket number: Case # 00117980 - After NPM 12.3 upgrade we see dup brackets around the email fields -Phil

the Netscalers are currently hosting an alias for our website. The Netscalers monitor the web servers on port 443 to ensure it can send traffic there and if it doesn't see TCP 443 it will send traffic to just one of them. Also, the Netscalers are allowing the standard SolarWinds ports so we can use the SDK and some…

No. No routes, no network, no ping, no connectivity...

Spanned network ( But we do NOT have this network between sites there is no routing. The IP addresses are simply placeholders so the HA "same network" requirement is satisfied. Pretty much the network Team said.. "uh, no we are not building a network between both sites."

Jason, I am not suggesting to skip FOE in the WAN. It just isn't for me. My organization is a little skiddish about "neverfail" - The engine behind FOE. But keep in mind this is currently the only WAN supported solution when you do not have a spanned network( same IP range across multiple sites). Yes HA is the new fail…

Any update Jiri?

Hi CJ, Thanks for the kudos! this still works as noted in my post. We have used it to prove it out in a disaster recovery (Full site loss) scenario without flaw. As expected within 4 minutes the secondary site is up and running. When we cut over the SQL server using log shipping we had to manipulate the DB table to show…

How about creating a group to include nodes or volumes that fit the criteria and alert on the group also listing sll the members.

-= HELP =- Hi Serena, I am running into a problem with the NPM 12.3 Offline installer. I am getting an error that is noting I am offline. What is the check that it is doing and under what user does this check occur? Is the installer running under the context of the user account in which I ran the executable? Also, I would…

I had this same issue with a secondary server in a FOE (Fail Over Engine) Cluster. The resolve was uninstalling and re-installing MSMQ the server. Once I ran configuration wizard again the errors cleared up. I found this partially helpful. SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Correcting a failed MSMQ (Microsoft Message Queuing)…

Teja0909 I was able to accomplish what you are trying to do by choosing a "fake" shared subnet between the HA Active and HA Passive pair as I have documented in my post. Let me know if you need some guidance following some of the madness I posted... ;-) This will answer how to implement HA without having to actually share…
