The Mandatory Custom properties shouldn't be limited to just the NODES table, but to any table where you have defined custom properties. The System administrators should be able to define/set which custom properties are Mandatory.

We also bought smaller licenses for NPM and SAM so that we could have a development environment. It's making for a great playground to test new monitors and evaluate new releases before moving into production.

Oiram, We have a Dev/DR system with the smallest licenses for NPM and SAM. This is where I currently install the latest releases to make sure that they will work in our environment. Unfortunately, that does give me much room for testing new features. Take AppInsight for SQL as an example. There are 50 components in that…

This would be very useful information to have.
-
I could use this to send just an email when there is a warning condition or to send a page/email and open an incident for critical conditions. That would cut my alert rules in half.
-
This should also be extended to all standard variables that are available in Orion, e.g. ${CaptionId}.
-
It would be easier if this was available while editing the Template instead of having to exit and go to another view.
-
I've had to resort to moving some component monitors into separate templates in order to be able to unmanage them when needed.
-
Welcome aboard Maria! Glad you get to join the zaniness!! DanielleH, no apologies needed! you have been doing a fantastic job!
-
I would also like to have better sorting functionality within the alerts page.
-
Full calendaring as well as specific alert windows would be a lot of benefit. The time definitions need to be more granular than hourly. It would be great if this could be used in SAM so that we can turn off the monitor on a simple set schedule.

This problem defeats the purpose of licensing additional web servers and load balancing them.
-
Be sure to vote both of these up!

We have defined Custom Properties to the Volumes Table for these thresholds and use this field in the Advanced Alert Rule. I'd rather have it built into the system instead of having to add a Custom Property, remember to populate it when adding a node and/or adding a volume.

Installed NPM 10.7 RC today on our DEV server. I like the ability to resize columns and move components around on a view. I did have a problem, however. There is a Custom Object Resource on the home page. I've tried to customize it, but have gotten repeated timeout errors.

Alex Slv - Thanks for the response to my post on the other thread. We'll move forward with the SQL workaround since most of our alerts are Component Types. Sounds like we need to submit a feature request!.
-
aLTeReGo - We have NPM 10.7 & SAM 6.1 installed and built an APM: Component Alert Rule to test the Application Custom Property value we defined. Unfortunately, the Application Custom Properties don't show up when inserting variables into the body of an email message. If we build an APM: Application Alert Rule, the…

As mentioned before, the best solution would be to set up DLs that the users could modify and you would use the DLs in your alert. An alternative might be for your users to maintain one or more csv files containing the appropriate SMTP addresses that is accessible from your Orion server. You would then need to invoke a…

No problem. Glad I could help.

The oids are listed in the following post on Thwack: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/message/182211#182211.

Thanks for posting this. I needed to do the same things to get my PS script to run from Alert Manager.

Additions: - Find the record with string a, but ignore it if string b is also in the record - Be able to define an identifier string in the records that can be used for grouping multiple records together. That way, if we find multiple search strings that have the same identifier, we only generate a single alert instead of…

u1976turn Try building a View with the information you want to display and set a View Limitation. You can then make the views available to your Orion Account through a customized Menu Bar. @

thank you very much! this is great!

This prize package is pretty awesome DanielleH! Can't wait to see what else is in store!

You should check the properties of the SNMP Service to verify that your Orion poller is in the allowed Hosts list. Open Services then open Properties for the SNMP Service. Go to the Security tab. There are two radio buttons in the middle of the tab: Accept SNMP packets from any host; Accept SNMP packets from these hosts.…

Rob, At a previous site, we placed an additional poller in the DMZ. That way, we only had to open the firewall for the monitoring traffic to/from the poller instead of opening more ports to all/each of the nodes in the DMZ. Somewhat following comments from byrona and stuartwhyte, provide licensing for a small additional…

You should look at SAM for this. SAM will allow you to monitor processes and services on the server and gather cpu and memory utilization.
