5 most common config mistakes. How is that a news story. Those aren't mistakes. They are fundamental security lapses.

Action Park. I want to go there.

That's fighting talk. I think we should race.

The problem is that companies are trying to do more with less. That means something has to give. It is usually the training budget. We are still expected to get the job done but now have no idea of how to do that. We will end up with something that, although it works, will be somewhat sub-optimal.

Another point is that, if you create a location for these nutters to voice their opinion (no matter how vile) then it becomes easier to monitor them. It's a difficult problem.
-
@"rschroeder" Agree but this might have been better directed at the person who started it.

Is this a rehash of yesterday with a couple of differences and no correct answers.
-
yumdarling What a welcome. Talk about being thrown in at the deep end. I'm another one who hasn't got the points for two correct answers. Please don't get too worked up about it though. We are all a bunch of point-a-holics. I'm sure you'll get it sorted.

I want one of those electric jets. It would make my 2 hour journey to work every day so much easier.

Yes but Perimeter can also mean the outlying points of a network such as the PCs (think perimeter anti-virus protection etc.). That doesn't relate to physical security. I think the question is flawed as it is too ambiguous.

Where's my Delorean. Have to admit laughing myself silly when they announced they were going to make it in Belfast (I'm from N. Ireland). It never stood a chance.

I want one. Somehow I'll convince the bosses to create a helipad on the roof and my morning commute will become a lot easier.

I do understand what you are saying (and agree that provisioning and de-provisioning are two separate tasks) but the user provisioning process should be a whole lifetime exercise for the user and their accounts. I think the issue here is that the questions are being written and read by technical people but the hints are…

In my 20 years as a contractor and 10 as a permie I have yet to find anyone who really gets the need for backups. Management just see it as a cost and usually just work in the short term so don't care if the data gets lost / corrupted / stolen. I'm always fighting to get proper backups. I like to have full weekly and then…

Who would have thought it. The music industry can't be trusted.

Quantum internet. Nowhere nearly there yet but probably will be exactly what we need when we start colonising other planets. Another example of real life following science fiction.

OK. Question now corrected and the answer is obvious if you think about it. Look at VMWare Events. Look at the filters. Count them. It is a lot easier than it seems.

We've just completed an external audit for ISO 27001 so our external security consultant is still on site. He had some very interesting comments about the biometric breach. I can't repeat them on here but he wasn't all that surprised.

Nope, just stating what seems to happen quite a lot. This is the case that came to mind. Company sues worker who fell for email scam - BBC News

Yes. The remake of Battlestar Galactica was very good. Tricia Helfer and Grace Park helped

I totally agree that communications is key. It's just that developers and operators generally don't get on and don't want to talk. I spend a lot of time trying to get people to understand that we are all on the same side and it is the users who ultimately decide if we get paid.

Unfortunately the video is required for this one. MTTI is clearly defined.

Oddly enough I (and a colleague) spent yesterday fixing our AD after a domain controller went nuts. Fortunately the remaining 5 weren't too badly affected and there were no FSMO roles on it. As I was at home nursing a hangover after Saturday's visit to watch Wasps rugby and watching British Superbikes from Silverstone and…

Calendars, dates and times may be odd but time is an artificial construct anyway. Don't forget, Time is relative - it is always slower when your relatives are visiting.

Two words with a space.

Don't make it easy. They everyone will be able to do it.

Facebook. Surely they just need to have something in their terms and conditions. Once you are dead the account gets frozen. A nominated next of kin is allowed 3 months to copy off anything they want to keep then the account gets deleted.

The Gecko must have been pretty fast on its feet to make a bazillion calls.

Indian Bank. What a poor statement. It wasn't the customers money that was stolen. Of course it wasn't. The bank had stewardship of the money. If they lost it then they are liable not the customers who should't be affected at all. Again not a surprise. Banks are in it for the money so if they can do the IT on the cheap,…

Dice for password generation. I can just imagine it. User - I didn't create a strong password because YOU didn't supply me with 5 x 20 sided dice. IT - You could just use the one die 5 times. User - Would that work ?
