I think you need to have another look at this. The link does point to marketing information, not a specifically created document generated for a quiz. I know that, when I am looking for a product to provide a solution to a problem we have, I look at the marketing information and product specs. I look for products that…

I must be special. I've never watched "Orange is the new Black". Then again, I've never watched Netflix.

I once had a data centre UPS which kept failing. Turned out that the monitoring solution was set to poll the UPS management card every minute. That was causing the card to eventually panic and crash. That then gave the "failed" alert. Set the monitoring to every 15 minutes and all was well.

Comcast. So it really is all about the money and not the users. Who would have thought that.

The UK military satellite system is called SkyNet. Maybe we started it.

Currently have Ethernet from client to server. Servers are blades, run VMWare and connect to SANs via FC. SANs have internal FC. Moving to HCI on VxRail so should be interesting. SAN monitoring software alerts on bottlenecks as does VMWare. We are only moving because of the age of the current hardware and the ever…

Data Scientist not a real job. When I was at University we used to laugh at those people doing the 'mickey mouse' degrees like Environmental Science. D'Oh.

We use multiple layers of security AND have regular pen tests. It helps us to sleep at night if some external company confirms that what we have done actually works.

Not surprised Dropbox saved money. Why pay extra to have your data on someone else's servers when you can have full control on your own. The only real benefit of having it elsewhere is that you can scale without having to buy, install and configure yourself. Once you know what you really need it makes more sense to have…

Unfortunately we also have to live with management wanting to do more with fewer people and less money. They can't seem to understand that turning down well justified pay rises and then asking people to do the company a favour are incompatible things. It also doesn't help that we have to deal with a snowflake colleague who…

I would have thought stability would be far more important than agility. It really doesn't matter how agile you are if the systems are down. Think TSB (for those of you who aren't in the UK - A UK bank who split off from another major bank then tried to move their customers to their own systems. It is weeks later and some…

We have a hybrid solution with 50,000 students accessing Office365 via AD authentication on prem and ADFS through a portal. 5,000 staff on prem in Exchange 2010 who are about to go to Office365. We will keep some high throughput mailboxes on Exchange 2016 on prem as Microsoft won't allow us to put them in Office365. The…

Agreed. If the parents taught their kids how to behave then there wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately most of the parents are even worse than the kids.

Might as well be chipped. They can track you through your Mobile phone, CCTV cameras, card spending etc. I quite like the idea of being able to open doors, pay for stuff etc. by just having my chip read. Less stuff to carry around and harder to lose your keys. Would probably be OK until someone clones your chip.

Nope, you still aren't getting it.

Unfollowing. I'm not on twitter so don't need to do this. However surely you should be able to use unfollow *.*

I'd love to see a robot turn up and try to do my job. No two days are even remotely the same. Every day brings even more insane users with rediculous requests (and managers for that matter). They seem to expect me to be able to make aging systems do things they were never designed to do and there's never money for new…

I guess if they had done their job properly the first time .........

Now that they have been 'caught' they come clean and try to hoodwink us with some light technobabble. My iPhone is a work one so I don't really care about it. If it dies / breaks / gets too slow I'll just ask for a replacement (doesn't cost me). I can see how someone who has paid far too much would care. Maybe having a…

Oh great, something else we don't need from them. What is wrong with buying stuff with already established currency backed by governments.

I'm in the UK and I get one a day from the same place using the same message. Number is blocked now. It's a scam claiming I owe money to a credit card company I don't have a card with. Same scam mentioned all over the net. I am on the correct blocking lists but I assume the call originates outside the UK and therefore…

What's the world coming to. I agree with you It's called a split infinitive and probably the most famous example is from the opening lines from Star Trek. "To boldly go" should have been "To go boldly". I'm picky too but, as a Brit. I do feel we need to teach our Amurkin cousins how to use the language we share.

Mac n Cheese. Probably says "Must be consumed within 3 days of opening". OK I'll give it a go.

I always assume they are lying to us. After all, they are only interested in making money. As for the Diesel 'scandal'. Everyone knew they were at it. It's just that no one had bothered to check. On my bike I replaced the whole exhaust with a race version (wider bore and titanium silencer for higher air flow and…

I do now.

Given the high number of high profile cyber attacks in recent times, was this article really necessary. I would suggest everyone would put cyber attack as their biggest worry. Pity they don't actually want to do anything about it. I've pointed out many many areas of our systems that are vulnerable but they won't let me fix…

I quite enjoy setting up good monitoring as I know it will help me when one of the 1000+ servers 'has an issue'. It's great when I can quickly find out what has happened and prove to the network people that it really is their problem ( ). I've recently used Appinsight for SQL to show our DBAs that it isn't the server that…

Of course if you type in your e-mail address to see if you are on the list they you get to be on the list.

Yes, just need to find the time to watch the other sessions I missed. I do prefer the demonstration type over the group of people having a chat type.
