Opened a case and support said the issue is the Fortigate key doesn't follow a logical character sequence so a regex won't work. I had them close out the case and file it as a feature request. Turns out there was something wrong the AD group itself. I was adding a few other groups and ran into the same problem with one other. Orion didn't like something about those groups so we ended up using some alternates.
