Thanks for the info Donald. Any ideas about the OLTP vs DSS question?
-
rharland asked the question I was thinking. But, how is the data collected by the sensors different from the data one gets from component monitoring in SAM? SAM yields, response time, CPU, memory and statistical data. How is NPM v11 sensor data different?
-
To be clear, each line shows the exact same interface name, but the In and Out Util values are different. Is it somehow showing individual polled values instead of just hteh CURRENT value?
-
Thanks. Tried this and instead of getting a single result for the appropriate interface on a given node, I get the same interface listed 618 times. What's that all about?
-
Karlo?

and the other pic:

Is this done on the APE or the Primary poller?
-
Yes I do, but as I said, there are many users out there that don't have in depth knowledge of how to use the Management Studio and don't necessarily want to have to learn it. I mean, the Database Manager is so easy to use to run RO and even RW queries. Why take it away? For once let the SQL nerds have their toys and the…

Thought I had done those steps, but I repeated them and now all is well. Thanks again. Great report.
-
Exactly the question I need answered TerryHarding. Thank you. In a nutshell, one gets mixed signals from SAM about what the true load is on the server and therefore, when and how many APEs are needed.

Can you give more details as to exactly how this was done. Is the GPS information in the form of Latitude and Longitude? How did you "limit the map to doing Groups"? Thanks.
-
To be specific, here is what I have done: 1. Created two Group custom properties, called GroupLatitude, and GroupLongitude with floating point number as the format. 2. Created Groups of nodes for each country using the Country node custom property dynamically. 3. Assigned a value for GroupLatitude and GroupLongitude to…

This is a very good idea, but I am having difficulty getting the Groups to appear on the World Map. You say to "limit the map to doing groups", but how does one do that?
-
Yes, and I found no relevant help there.
-
Perhaps I should have stated my question differently. Since latency an be an issue across WAN connections, it can be a reason to install a separate instance of NPM, which would in turn necessitate EOC in order to view those multiple instances. So, what latency values indicate the need for a new instance?

No one? Both descriptions of the Node Warning Interval cannot be correct. Anyone at SolarWinds?
-
another bump?
-
Rob, are you taking about the Report Scheduler?
-
Ahem!!!
-
One more question please. It looks to me that the trap viewers in NCM and NPM are identical. If that is the case, is there any reason to use the one in NCM other than to enable the realtime change notification capability? Could I not simply configure all my traps ruoles and alerts in one application or the other,, but not…

Thanks luttrell. Glad to know I was on the right track. I will be interested to see if the path to the FSDB in your template is different than the one I am using because the graph for my component is a horizontal line. Not sure I am targeting the correct location.
-
Update! I looked into this using NPM 10.1.3 and the Caption is autoupdated in the Nodes table as soon as the node name is changed on the Orion website. It just isn't working with version 10.2. SolarWinds? Is this a bug?
-
All three of those fields in the Nodes table show the same value, but none are reflecting the changes I made in Manage Nodes on the website. Its as if the database and the web are not communicating. Any ideas?
-
I'm sorry Pavel, but I did not understand what you are trying to say. Can you try again, or can someone else help me understand Pavel's response?
-
Thanks to both alterego and njoylif for you responses. Very helpful. Please post back your experiences when your implementation is complete, njoylif.
-
Gojericho0, Sounds like you might be looking for some Orion training options. I took a class from a company called Corona Technical Services that was excellent. The instructor was very knowledgable and took the time to personalize the presentation and labs as much as possible so I could really use what I learned. Check the…

The switches are integrated Cisco 3560 Stack.
-
Yeah, I was aware that they moved Device Templates to the Platform, but that still does not make sense, because all the credentials for SSH connection are still entered on the node Edit Properties page anyway. The Device Template is redundant. Oh well.

Thank you smargh. That is interesting information, but it does not seem to answer my questions. Why the different information from WMI and SNMP with both NPM 10.4.2 and SAM 5.5 installed? Would the WMI poll still show a single NIC interface if SAM were not there? Anyone from SolarWinds care to explain? Thanks.

How would I turn this into a report showing all Groups a node is in?
