Thanks for the reply. So, that leads to more questions.... Are you saying that If I apply Appinsight for SQL to four servers, that I will have used 200 "licensed" components? If so, how many "total" components? This just does not make sense. Also, if the "total" components value is the number that should be applied against…

I have eight Orion modules installed, but I am not talking about Elements. I specifically mentioned the different values for "Components" that I see in the locations mentioned. Thanks.

Thanks Rob. So, would you say it might be a "best practice" to keep any one condition as simple as possible and then use the Complex conditions to add additional sections related to any other needed property types? (As opposed to trying to nest multiple condition groups inside a single section, thus increasing the chance…

I use both Basic and Advanced. That is not the reason for my question. I simply want to know whether dependencies have any impact on the functionality of Basic alerts or whether they only have meaning with Advanced alerts.
-
Well, that seems strange. As you can see from the image, I clearly have a chart visible, but the resource is grayed out.
-
I would like to know about this as well. Can anyone any SolarWinds help?
-
pacetti, I looked at the KB and it seems to indicate that IPAM 1.7 is compatible with NPM 10.0.0/Core 2010.1.0. There is a check mark there. Am I reading that wrong?

That helps a lot, but what it is still missing is the name of the Groups (folders) that one can create on the "Manage Subnets and IP Addresses" page. So, I want to be able to group the subnets by the Group I have added them to, for instance Company, State or whatever. In other words, I want to be able to reproduce the left…

What is the maximum time gap between front and back end that SolarWinds will tolerate?
-
A very old question I admit, but I would like to have an answer if possible. Anyone? Thank you.

Yes, I understand that macros can be used to update information in the database about nodes already on a map, but I am interested in a way to update maps as to which elements are actually on a map. Groups can be defined and updated using a dynamic query now. How long before maps can be updated in the same fashion?

Actually, I was referring to the BOLD groupings that appear on the website Reports page. The lighter titles there are the ones that correspond to the Report Group in Report Writer. How can I change the name/add to the bold categories on the website. I seem to remember seeing an answer to this some time back, but cannot…

Thanks alterego. So, would'nt the alerts for application going warning/critical and component going warning/critical be redundant? Seems like one could always use just the application alert and embed SQL variables identifying the component(s) that are responsible for the application status. Correct?
-
Thanks Byron. If you have an entry in both the RO and RW blanks and click on Validate, which string is actually being validated?
-
Thanks, rschroeder. I had forgotten about this one. I will try it. Did you find it absolutely necessary to use the numerous "Where" conditions, or could there have been a simpler way?
-
The report is yielding data, but I realized that I am not sure whether I should have "less than" or "greater than" for the Timsstamp is I want data OLDER than 12/31/2016.

While on this subject, I want to task when the bundle should be used. Should one always install the individual packages when installing multiple application APEs?
-
Thanks byrona, but are you sure about advanced alerts? If they must only be created once across all pollers then why do you have the Import/Export options in configuring advanced alerts?
-
Thanks for the reply. Just to be clear, one must create the folders FIRST because the Import process cannot do that. Is that what you are saying?
-
Well, if you assume that today is the first day that your SolarWinds database is in existence, does that mean that no data at all is summarized for the first seven days, then on day eight, the data from day one is summarized to an hourly average with the day one raw data then deleted? Likewise, is it true that no hourly…

Anyone? Buehler?

Well I finally got an alert but I should not have. The current response time in the alert message was 349 ms, which is NOT greater than either the warning or critical thresholds assigned on the Edit Properties page. So why did I get an alert?
-
Here is the chart of response time data for the last hour

Here it is:
-
We just want to know when it happens either manually or by alert action.

Also, if I want to use the Report Writer, how would I combine the two separate reports into one? Ideally, I would like to have a report that shows the nodes grouped by Region with the average availability for each node and the average for the region as well. Thanks again for your help.
-
Thanks for the help zackm. I would prefer to get this done using Manage Reports, but I could not see how to get the tool to calculate the average for each Region based on the values for the nodes in the Region. Can you advise?
-
Well, not sure what links you are referring to, but I may have already read them. :)

Let me make sure I understand you. At this point in time, all EOC users will get the default "Home" page view when logging in. If they want to have other views, they must be built as custom menu bar items? Is that correct? If so, I must wonder why EOC was initially designed so differently from Orion NPM. Why weren't the…
