Perfect!! That is exactly what I was after. Thanks.

Yes the node addition went off fine. And, as I said, I used IPSLA itself to discover and auto-configure IPSLA on the nodes. So, how could IPSLA then have difficulty configuring the SLA operations if it was supposedly successful in the initial configuration? Thanks for your help.

Agreed. The common view with an account limitation is a good option. Basically what I am after is the ability for any of my customers to access their filtered view, then generate a report that has charts/tables with utilization and throughput data for certain interfaces over defined time periods and with certain…

Believe it or not I have a follow-up question almost 2 years after originally posting this question! Lets say I have a node that goes down and stays down for 10 minutes, during which it is polled 5 times. How would the Basic alert handle that? How would an Advanced alert handle that? How many times would/could each alert…

I had the same problem, tried what you suggested and it worked even without a rediscovery. The questions is, why does this work? What is actually causing this problem? Is it a bug in Orion 10.10.1? SolarWinds?
-
Thanks Greg, but that brings to mind one other question. Does the Sonar Discovery tool operate in the same way? In other words, if I set the tool to scan a subnet using a list of three strings, does Sonar scan the entire subnet with each string, or does it scan address by address moving along when it discovers a string…

I just finished installing Platform 2017 HF3 on the PPE and then attempting to install the APE using the "Download" option from the Polling Engines page. Still get the error. The goofy thing is, the ReadMe for HF3 says that it should be installed on the APE as well, but you can't do that since SolarWinds has not yet been…

That did not work. See the screenshot of the script output message: Any idea why it did not work?
-
I was pretty sure that "APM" was installed by SAM, but what specifically does it do?
-
Thanks Craig. Actually glad to know the issue was just a brain fart!
-
Errr... OK. Then it seems that the documentation on this page needs to be a little more explicit. Can you make that a feature request to change the wording on this page so it makes sense? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Casey, but I was wondering why Orion would have been changed to designate an additional poller as "primary". I thought there could only be one true primary polling engine in the database. Or is it that any poller is "primary" to the nodes that it is monitoring at the time? Was I dreaming, or did it use…

Seriously, no one on Thwack with SQL expertise has an idea?
-
Anyone able to help with this report. There is no "downtime history" category for Applications like there is for Nodes.
-
Additional information.... I can change the Rediscovery Interval on the website and it will change the value listed in the Nodes table. I can also change the polling interval for interfaces and I see the new value in the Interfaces table as well. Right now, the PollInterval field in the nodes table will NOT change to the…

Here are two screenshots of Task Manager that should answer your question:

Looks like you two may be on the right track:

Just curious, but what would SolarWinds move to if and when they move away from the Database Manager? There are many benefits to having the direct visibility into the database tables and many of us (if not most) are not SQL experts and might not have access to the Management Studio.
-
So, Karlo, just to be clear. You are saying that Orion does not update information for a resource that was already in the database? If a serial number has changed on a resource that was already being monitored, this information is not updated in the database bia SNMP rediscovery?
-
Anyone? Please.
-
Thanks Larry. I'll look into that. Anyone else have an opinion or some SQL expertise?

bump bump bump, kick, slap, punch, gentle nudge.........

It doesn't entirely explain things. For instance, this thread says: "NetFlowSummary3 - This table holds the summarized historical data for the third collapse level. The data are deleted after certain number of days. The data in this table summarizes a 30 days traffic by default. (RetainCompressedDataInDays option in…

I would think that only one of you can be right about this: Re: How to use the "has changed" variable How to test this?

The Events retention settings is at the default of 30 days, but the Events table has over 23 million rows in it. Additionally, the event with the most occurrences is for "Thin AP disappeared". There were over 790,000 of those just in the last 24 hours. Is there any way to keep that event type from clogging up the database?
-
Thanks for the reply. Yes, these are AD accounts, and those that have never logged in have '1/1/1900' in the LastLogin field. However, your SWQL query comes back with an error when used in the Custom Query resource.
-
Bump. SolarWinds?
-
Thank you for the reply, but I'm not sure it answers my primary question. Is it a problem if a node is in "fast poll" (the NWL) when it becomes time for a scheduled poll on the same node (the NPI)? Anyone?
-
Thanks for the help m-milligan. I used the SWQL in a custom query resource - one e3ach for unmanaged nodes and muted alerts and am not getting the expected results. I unmanaged three nodes, but only two of them show in the query results. I muted alerts on three nodes and the query is empty. Any ideas how to troubleshoot?…
