Thanks qle. I had forgotten that aspect of alert testing, but as it happens, I got a real alert that proved what you just wrote. Thanks again.

Byrona, What is the difference then between the alert evaluation frequency on the General tab and the "do not trigger this action until...." setting on the Trigger Condition tab? I thought that the setting on the General tab controls how often Orion polls the DB looking for that alert trigger. No?

So, in a nutshell, the UnDP tool can do anything that Manage Pollers can do, but Manage Pollers is currently limited to CPU, memory and node details pollers. Is that correct? If so, it would seem that the Manage Pollers tool may be the forerunner to moving the UnDP tool to the web.

In my case it is definitely not a GPO thing, so it seems that it is something to do with SolarWinds functionality. I would simply like to know exactly how the OrionPermissionChecker really works.
-
SQL is on its own server. NPM, NCM, SAM, VNQM and IPAM are installed on a single poller.
-
Anyone care to weigh in?

Very nice report Zackm. Does the first query have a variable for the target database? Am I not seeing it?
-
Thanks for the response margolis, but this much I already know. What I want is a way to total the number of 1s and 2s in the OperStatus column and report it as a transform poller or whatever. Anything?
-
Leon, My understanding is that the Node Warning Level (which also defaults to 120 secs) is used to determine the maximum time that a non-responding node will remain in Warning status before it is set to Down status. It has been explained to me that during this time, the node is polled every ten seconds until it either 1)…

This would require that the array be added as an SNMP node in NPM, would it not? I have some arrays that are not SNMP capable being monitored by SRM, so I need to know how to alert when a disk in an array has failed.I do not see any alert variables for "disk" or physical disk" in the Storage Array category.
-
Still urgent. No takers?
-
I would think that if some descriptive word, such as "interactive" were to appear in the resource name or description, then it would be searchable on the Add Resource page, like numerous other resources already are.
-
Understood. I am not backing out on the Config Wizard. Letting it run each time.
-
This is a fresh install. I decided temporarily to uninstall SRM so I could continue with other installs. The error did not come back the next time I ran the Config Wizard, but I suppose it will when I try to install SRM again last.

Thanks Garrett. So, does STM communicate directly with a Provider, or does STM always use an agent?
-
If I may jump in here.... I am interested in this as well, but was hoping to be able to apply the proper conversion/formatting directly to the column variable in the report without resorting to custom SQL. Is custom SQL the only way to do this at this time?
-
I think I am with you Matthew, but let me see if I understand your answer. Let's use a simple node status alert as an example. If I set the alert to notify me when a node goes down, but do not set a reset condition, will the alert be deleted from the ActiveAlerts table in the Orion database when the node comes back up?
-
This begs the question of exactly how far up the folder structure of SolarWinds on the app server(s) should one exclude from anti-virus scanning? Can one safely exclude the entire Program Files/SolarWinds folder and all sub-folders, or is this risky?
-
Thanks, zackm. That helped a lot.
-
The query fails when testing using Database Manager: I tried removing the space before and after the '<' after the LastSystemUpTimeUtc and that didn't work either. Ideas?
-
bluefunelemental, If I may interject a question into the middle of this thread... Just exactly how does one "set auto import to True" in a Profile? Thanks.
-
Will this Import synchronization job be able to synchronize changes to custom properties on nodes that already exist in the NCM database? In other words, if I change a custom property in the NPM database, will the change be passed to NCM the next time the job runs?
-
Both directories are fairly large. One of them takes more almost 2 minutes to load fully and has 136 GB in 6200 folders and 38,000 files. The other one is about the same size.

Anyone else want to relate their experiences?
-
Actually, the email is one of three trigger actions configured. It is also supposed to Execute Config Script and Show Last Config Changes and Stor in ${Notes}. Shouldn't there be something in the ${Notes} field of the AlertStatus table then?
-
When I test the alert I see entries in the AlertLog table for the actions taken, but there is no entry in the AlertNotes field in the AlertStatus table. The alert action, which in this case is an email does take place.
-
Anyone, please?
-
Thank you for the additional information adatole. However, are my original statements also true?
-
Thanks, but that reference actually does not really answer my question. One might assume that the node availability data is covered by the Detailed Statistics Retention setting on the Polling Settings page, but that is not actually stated. Additionally, there is a separate section for Interface Availability Retention, so…
