Wow, thanks for all the support. I'd hoped to have it out this week, but the network at my hotel for Cisco Networkers Barcelona is slooooow, and I need VPN and decent internet to test. Stand by, I should have it out next week! -Patrick

That's a cool solution. You're also using the Geo Caching API with the address so you don't need the lat,lng of the nodes and they do the heavy lifting. I actually started with something like that, but when I started looking at the location and address fields on a lot of the devices I was seeing entries like "Rack 2, U2-4"…

Sorry, I just want to make sure I know what you're looking at- I don't see those options. I get down to the Sales link, the page that comes back is "Sales Console", but there's no button or link labeled "Storage Summary". I do see a quick AJAX loading pop-up when the Sales Console view appears, and assuming you mean the…

Wow, so I guess you guys noticed I finally got NetFlow Analyzer 3.0 deployed on the demo server. ;-) As I'm sure you've all noticed NFA3 is an amazing upgrade for our NetFlow Orion module and I made a number of significant changes to support it. In NFA2 we didn't have as many network-wide charts, and I didn't like the…

Actually, let's open this up. What topics would you like to see covered next? Did you like the format last time? How could we improve it? Did you like the scheduling? Who were your favorite presenters and what were the most helpful topics?

That sir is EXACTLY what we're up to. Even more how-to, hang-outs and interactive sessions. More to come..

Quick work glyngholm, and thanks for taking a pass at it in query analyzer. My guess, (hopefully somewhat educated), is that the SQL is being parsed and dynamically generated in the alert condition editor, and executed in the Service. This would mean that it should work fine if you pasted the query back into the DB query…

Did you catch my primmer on the API from thwackCamp? Port 17777: Introduction to the SolarWinds API - YouTube

Thanks for the interest in the example HTML resource on the demo. It was really easy to build and I used the same methodology many customers do for wrapped web content. It's basically a web page in an IFRAME tag. Here's how I built it: Note: You must have the LANDesk Web Desk module for this * In the app you're trying to…

To use the Google Maps API applications need a key registered to a server IP which comes in free and enterprise flavors. Again, I'm not an attorney, but last time I checked the terms of use said the free key can't be used in applications behind a firewall and in no case should be used for tracking applications with a…

You may want to start with a Map Maker map in the meantime. They are really easy to make and you can import Google map images as backgrounds. Also, you can simply drag the nodes and interfaces you want right onto the map, which you can't do with the Google Maps resource. Also, Orion Map Maker maps can do roll-up status, to…

Great, she's pretty awesome. And as a heads up from personal experience, I get hundreds of thwack notifications a day, and every now and then something falls through a crack. Anytime you can't reach one of us in a thwack message, ping the admin team and they'll kick it to email.

This. Especially binary configs.

That's a good question and the first time anyone asked about that. Let me do a little research. chopperpl good call. I haven't done a re-discovery on that node in some time, and it is or has been swapped from a 2900 to a 2800, (and probibly before that the 4000). I've updated it's name and caption in Orion and the…

That's not good. I've sent your contact info to one of the Storage Manager sales engineers who can assist with your evaluation far better than I.

Jon- The US has amazing free weather, but that's the effect of decades of coordinated weather service at a continental scale. Europe is beginning to combine their efforts, and although I haven't been able to find regional maps with drill-down, you can now find public weather sites and some aggregation services to link…

Hey sorry for the delay. Derik (below) is correct. Endpoint is how flow-monitoring refers to senders and receivers, so that's coming from NetFlow (NTA). Make sure that switch has flow export enabled and that it's pointed at your NTA collector server.

I can't speak to anything six years ago, but that's a great suggestion. Have you considered joining the MVP ranks or joining the reseller/partner program?

We've had several Thwack users contribute GoogleMaps integration packages, and Brandon had one as well. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/community/solarwinds-community/product-blog/blog/2010/03/25/google-maps-anyone

Nope. It's from a year ago. ;-) This works great however: http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/SummaryView.aspx?AccountID=Guest&Password=Orion

You can see what it looks like here on the online demo: http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/SummaryView.aspx?viewid=157&AccountID=Guest&Password=Orion The demo is not functioning properly. thanks, MCC Unfortunately I had to pull my alpha resource off the demo when I hit the limit on transactions with Google. Google Maps…

Very nice resource - can't wait to try it out. It seems to jump around alot (IE7, FF2) when hovering over the nodes, but that looks like more of a problem with the Google API. Cool! Thanks. And the jumping around bit.. yes, there's a boog in my onmousemove event sink. I'm fixing that over the weekend, and also shrinking…

Glad you like it. I put it online to get feedback, and so far it's driven a few changes which I'm making this week. I'll get it packaged and hope to have it down-loadable in a few days. The installer is easy, a zip file you unpack in the Orion root directory. I'll post again when it's ready to go. -P

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you like it. I'll start packaging it for testing. Also from your feedback I fixed a bug in IE6 when mousing over nodes quickly blanks the maps, and found that the "Detach Resource" page is broken because I implemented the node lookups in the wrong aspx method. I'm headed to Spain for…

Total time, about 30 minutes including the Orion install and NetFlow configuration, excluding setting up the PC's. ;-)

I've had a chance to compare the the new SM5 demo and the previous version and the answer is, no, the product does not work like that. The demo has a bug. We're working on it now and I'll let you know when it's working again. Thanks for the heads-up- please keep the feedback coming.

Thanks for the heads-up. Can you walk me through the steps to reproduce what you're seeing? I built the demo and we should be able to figure this out. -Patrick

We will shortly restore the ecommerse component that temporarily suspended after some trouble with ProMetric. When that happens registration for the exam will again be via major credit card using an online process. We hope you enjoy this period before we restore that component of new registrations. We continue to closely…

Yikes! I hope not. Can I help?

Hi, It looks like one of the demo devices on NTA site is HP ProCurve 4000M (according to description), however, HP does not report this device as sFlow supported. Does anyone know if that device support sFlow? Thanks That's a good question and the first time anyone asked about that. Let me do a little research. :)
