This makes for a lovely sight for our CIO. This is why we cannot use Appinsight effectively. Its just nonsense to say an application is down. And having no way to customize what it says is down. Please replicate what SCOM does for general events, jobs, and granular object discovery. After SQL is done, do the same for IIS.…

Added resource but I dont see option to change....

This is one of the absolute worst qualities of SAM/NPM. Why it gets no traction to resolve is one of the many great mysteries of the universe.
-
I'm always interesting. The ideal solution is a flexible, granular discovery and management mechanism as seen in other tools. This is how dynamically managed applications and services should be monitored - dynamic groups based on servers with values obtained from the registry. With SolarWinds, you have to manually create…
-
Ok, will give it a try....thanks. This is not an ideal way to manage so many objects though....wish you guys handled discovery a little differently. No worries.

Not possible to assign multiple servers, Sohail. I monitor other DB backends with SCOM just fine actually... Hello, Unfortunately there is no easy way to add the AppInsight for SQL to multiple Nodes in one action. I have submitted a feature request to have the AppInsight for SQL application added to the "Scan Nodes for…

Any update on this?
-
Disregard, I think I got it now.

Our install has been severely affected by the upgrade. Many basic features broke. And we are in the middle of figuring out the best path to get back to normalcy. Rebuilding is a challenge due to varied complexities. Perhaps our installation consultant should not have deployed more than a single all in one PE with all…

I plan to follow this at some point as my environment has been limping along and my network engineers are without a fully functioning NCM. https://thwack.solarwinds.com/thread/106557 1. Backup your DB and SolarWinds machine/VM first. This is in case you have to go back. 2. Upgrade your current SolarWinds installation(s) in…

Any news on these? Anyone? Bueller?

I just want to also define the problem we're trying to solve so anyone else can chime in if needed. It seems myself and the OP are the only people on the planet that need a very basic server inventory report from SolarWinds. Most companies have PMs/DBAs/Admins/Janitors that want server reports that target a specific group…
-
Ok, I figured it out....Can you let me know how to change the default CPU check to every 5 minutes instead of 10? My timestamps are 10 min intervals, need 5. Trying to figure that out now. Thanks for your help...

I know its a year and a half later but now a new client is asking why SQL AppInsight is so terribly difficult to control and why its bleeding red like a dead fish. Look at his SQL Page. He asks how his company is running correctly and how he still has a business. What is the rationale behind giving us all of these…

I wish I knew why its so difficult to give us a way to target a group of servers for a performance report for a selected period of time for these counters. Having a trending report for a customer's group of servers is 1000X more important to me than all of the worthless vaporware features like the forecasting charts.
-
This is how I have it setup. I'm getting all data but storage and other misc data now. This worked perfectly for 6.0 before we moved to 6.5. VMan sees all. But Orion console does not. Frustrating.

The frequency is when they're triggered. The alerts are correct, as file group space is running low. BUT, I have disabled the alert due to the macro $ issue and they're still dropping in. What table holds the activated alerts? i guess I can poke around the tables..

I'm not sure why I need to open a ticket, but I'm able to use this Thwack Master's Poller for disk ipos and I am getting values. HOW CAN I GET INODES IN THIS POLLER OR MY OWN? Seems the UCD MIB is native, no? Linux Disk IOPS

This should be included as a small warning when you run the config tool. We lost a ton custom work a few weeks back. My boss asked what happened to his custom link pages and I told him the support guy did it.
-
Thanks. Ok. If I have a static list of servers to create a report against how can we mortals wit multiple tenants tie all of this together for a group report for each client?
-
Really tired of the inflexibility. It impossible to control in large environments. SCOM - not a problem. I can override any job in 12 seconds and be on my merry way.
-
Lack of integration with a third party isn't something I would chastise them for. What help desk software truly integrates with any monitoring tool? Even Microsoft Service Manager barely integrates with SCOM out of the box. Sure you get a connector to see your servers but that's it on day one. It is an age old argument,…

Has anyone been able to do this? Client of mine would like it. I can see it in my head with PowerShell.
-
I had to filter them out in my Alert config. Ignoring them is all I can from people getting alert burnout on fake alerts.
-
As a test, I set a report to only pull ten records and it spins and spins and spins for 30 minutes. Something is just desperately wrong. I'm beginning to not doubt our directors doing POC of other cloud based monitoring tools and leaving SolarWinds. We are nearing the end of our patience with all of these nuances of…

If you rename volumes or add a new volume with the same drive letter as the old NPM seems to get confused with these objects, reports show volumes that don't exist in Node Resources. I have had this happen with two independent environments I manage. Engineers will change and update at the server level but not update Solar.…

You cannot be serious. Do you think a 5 year old issue was JUST now resolved in the past 4 days?
-
Wow, thank you a ton.Great work indeed.

So, are you saying we should hold off on buying it? Is it a mature product? I can't tell if you like it or hate it.
