You may need to open a Node page and count... Same for any App templates, count the component monitors. All of the data is available in the UI to you. I don't think there is any simple way to present each property of what the tools are collecting, I feel that this is a manual endeavor you are asking for. So for a domain…

I have a ticket open on this. The Windows agent is junk. Lets just CTJ and admit it.

Someday hopefully they will have easier ways to mange objects in a granular fashion.

We had the same issue with 6.0 - upgrading VMwan was the way out of this one. There is a thread on this issue.

SolarWinds doesn't give you test licenses beyond trials, unless you have friends in high places. We tried to request one but they wanted to charge full price for a test environment license. Understandable, but sad.
-
Another thread? I understand your pain and quest in wanting to find acceptable answers. Do you have Meraki gear? Does Solarwinds do enough with it? What would you like to use Solarwinds for when managing Me…

Correct on all points based on what I've seen. SNMP v2 only. No Netflow. No NCM backups.

This template seems to work ok for getting bug check/BSOD caused reboots. I recommend to apply it to a dynamic group based on Windoze hosts. Keep in mind though this is only going to alert you after the event is triggered. Its not going to detect a stale state. It may not be exactly what you're looking for. Windows Reboot…

What specifically do you wish to do?

Using SolarWinds for this kind of log event management situation is so un-ideal....These events shouldn't even be a component monitor because you're just asking for the grief you are writing about. I'm sure a PowerShell or C# service would be be needed for such a dynamic kind of 2 step Windows event log probe.…

Open ports for Agent communication on the Internet without VPN. Agent Open Port Requirements: * 17778 (Active mode): In Active mode, no ports need to be open on the host where the agent is installed. However, TCP port 17778 must be open on the Orion server or the additional poller with which the agent is associated. This…

This topic I believe is along the lines of automated object discovery and deletion... Automate Discovery and Monitoring

Is the IIS template properly configured with WInRM? Did you open that IIS link and choose Edit and click configure? What happens when you drill down and choose edit on one of these links? Authentication test? Does your Windows credential account assigned to the Node have proper access?
-
I just monitor the iManage services. Would like to look into deeper log monitoring though since the heart of many issues are in the logs.
-
Our issue with monitoring AWS and Azure hosts remotely is the Windows Agent is garbage. It breaks everyday. Monitoring the cloud is not an issue, the Windows Agent is the issue. Totally unreliable - which is why it went from being an initially charged for component $ to free. Ya get what ya pay fur.
-
Same problem in IE. I cannot even type in a name that is not shown. This is not good, I need to create monitors asap.

Display NPM on Smart TV

My DBAs asked us to turn these off, its so unreliable. Other people here have made template hacks for SQL job monitoring trying to fill the AppInsight gaps but my god why is it so complicated for such a simple alert.
-
You can't. The template is locked up and yes, it is worthless which is why you create a Basic SQL services template and go with that. The SQL AppInsight WMI counters are noise machines. My DBAs need real alerts, not canned WMI noise with no legitimacy.

Get an overhead projector for the conference room, show them the SAM demote site - http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/Apm/Summary.aspx There are lots of errors and Critical Reds you will see in the SolarWinds demo site, this is normal for SAM.
-
So, what update did you install?
-
Someone created a fantastic Node Summary report (TJohnson?) but it does not do disks and SNMP processor count. There is no report in the SolarWinds that will give this kind of data. Instead, take the Top 10 View, copy it, and target only the TEAM servers. This will only give you real-time stats, you can't do historical…

Check your scheduled task options.

This script could be modified to do this if anyone has some time. This script emails results but can be modified for a template most likely. Quest ActiveRoles snapin can be grabbed from the demo QAR ISO. #================================================ param( [string]$OutputType ) cls #### CONFIG BEGIN #### #Import…

Does WUG have any Windows services you can monitor?
-
SCOM does certificate monitoring beautifully. It automatically discovers all certs and allows overrides as needed. Which is why we use SCOM along with SolarWinds as a critical gap filler. If you have lots of certs to monitor (over 100) then SAM is just not a great option when you have to write separate HTTPS component…

The only way I have found is to create custom views with charts. But they are so busy that they are unreadable. I wish the Top XX views offered Date selection. Huge need for what you are wanting and I have created threads on this.
-
Turn off SQL AppInsight based alerts, create a watered down SQL template for essential services/port check.

How can I add Mount Points to the same filter? I've tried different combos and nothing seems to work. Thanks
