My boss said I was surely being a little over the top in screaming about this so he thought he would do a little bit of RTFM. He opened up the AppInsight for SQL manual and found this little excerpt to be extremely disturbing. SCOM gave us hundreds of SQL alerts out of the box that we could customize on a per object basis…

No. They are partnering with OpsGenie now which may offer such a service. But OpsGenie looks like a ton of work to setup.

This is a masterpiece that drove us nuts. I fixed it by using the Orion admin account and not a domain account as the credentials to use for report automation.
-
We ran the Oracle client installer.

Longstanding issue that will most likely not get resolved ... I love how I opened a support case for this and they ask to close it with no resolution. Whats the point of opening a case if you get no traction?

Get a mini PC like this (cheapest) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FDH3OXE?psc=1 We implemented an Intel NUC and its been ok too.

My reports are working again, but now, instead of just brief lines of changes, there is an entire config file - so the report is HUGE. Why is all the white space filling it up now? Before, the reports just shows brief changes in the red/green summary columns perfectly.

Help! I need the same report for Packet Loss - anyone?

Looks like the status is Unknown, not down. You won't get an alert for this condition out of the box. You need to create an alert for status = "not up" to see this kind of gray status triggered in an action. I would look at the configuration though and see why its in an unknown gray state first.

Another great example of someone wanting SCOM Automatic discovery capability - Customize template
-
In much the same way Microsoft has failed to give us what SolarWinds does so well - a compact web front end, so too are there features that are in SCOM that are not in SolarWinds that you cannot imagine monitoring a large environment without. I am looking forward to seeing how you come to grips with the loss of…

Yes. Agents don't hold/store credentials for SAM templates.
-
I don't see a user name in there.
-
You aren't going to get all of these cleanly with SAM without customizing your own template. Many of them are in AppInsight but not all. And, setting up alerts with SQL Appinsight is tough. Here are the rules and monitors in the SQL 2016 Monitoring pack of another tool that I wish SolarWinds SAM had - Someday I hope they…

This is troubling that this bug has not been acknowledged or taken seriously. I have a client who is beyond mortified that he just lost 6 months of Availability data for all of this clients. What is the status of this issue?

Re: How Does Everyone Monitor SSL Certificate Expiration SSL Cert Expiration.apm-template SSL Certification Expiration Monitoring Certificate Monitor All of these are imperfect, so you really need to experiment to find your favorite option.

You could use an HTML widget and use it to present your text.

Off topic, but may I ask how do you like Kaseya? I've trialed it, but have not paid them yet. I don't think there is any kind of SolarWinds integration with the VSA module.
-
When you say services, are you talking about an Application service? If yes, then you cannot get that granular with object limitation permissions.
-
The SQL AppInsight PDF only lists 2 or 3 alerts out of the box. Everything else needs customization. 1. Needs an event log component 2. Custom disk alert/threshold on that volume 3. Same as #2 - but Disk alerts don't tell you what files or folders are consuming, that would take come kind of custom scripting most likely.…

Linux agents have been released? Funny how Agentless technology using WMI used to be considered "Ingenous" and Agent aware used to be considered "bloated".
-
SCOM does it brilliantly. I can export Excel sheets of all of my certificates and their expiration dates (PMs love this), and I get alerts 7 days out when they're about to expire. I took out server names in the screenshot. I don't know how people live without this feature. My SolarWinds clients beg for this, maybe someday…

I opened a ticket on this recently and did not get a resolution. It errors out for me.
-
Same issue here, inconsistent jumps near the end of the cycle, hiccups back to the first tab. Does anyone else have more than 5 views and experience perceived bugginess? SolarWinds - any input on this?
-
New problem - we completely diabled the montor and SAM is still sending us email alerts. How do you troubleshoot phantom email alerts for a monitor that is not enabled? Wonderful.
-
This is still an issue in 12.0.1 for Windows WMI hosts.
-
Ah, the beauty of WMI...
-
Easily done with SCOM. I can generate spreadsheets of all discovered server certs for PMs. Works great.
-
Yeaop. This was a bear to configure for a large client. I had to make like 300 of these CMs. OpsLogix was much simpler, and discovered all TS intelligently. I wish Solar was like this.
