The Friday afternoon of the Memorial Day 1998 weekend someone in a neighboring cage spilled a Big Gulp into our SAN. We spent the entire three day weekend restoring databases from tape. Client was happy, wife was not.

Mine isn't allowing me to resubmit, it just shows the original answer I'd submitted without the ability to edit. Tried reloading, logging out/in, different browser but no joy. What's the trick?

rschroeder we had those galvanized trays over our DC. Turns out they warp when it gets too hot in the crawl space resulting in spontaneous condensate redistribution.

I told her that I needed to change them. Immediately. She said I couldn't. I asked why not. "Because the committee needs to approve it." I did it anyway and told her to fire me if she wanted.

Well done on the new mission format!

Someone let Panera know about this month's mission.

How is Ruby Rhod not on this list? It's... Whoever left him off:

Yeah, absolutely safe steven.melnichuk@tbdssab.ca. I'm sure my old building operations guy will be happy to stand in it while you send a couple hundred amps through it.

Happy Monday from the basement. Keep Calm and kill -9. Will work for Enterprise Edition.

The worst performance problem I ever dealt with was severe disk block stickiness that took down a client's Oracle and MySQL databases the Friday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend, 1999-ish. I was leaving for the weekend with my wife and kids when my pager started screaming out 911 alerts. Quick investigation identified the…

In middle school our science teacher had a kit-built 8080 that ran programs on paper tape. I would spend hours in the "lab" playing there. In high school I worked in the school's computer lab and at the local community college doing 10-key card punch. My parents scrimped so I could have an Apple II and I spent hours on the…

My greatest fear is Stupidity. I worked at a company that had placed its A/C unit directly above the server room. They placed a drip pan over the suspended ceiling to catch condensation. The pan warped one day, draining several gallons of water through the ceiling tiles and onto the racks, leaving a decent pool under the…

It was 1999. I had just been hired as a contractor for the Navy to manage a host of Oracle 9i databases, some containing highly sensitive data. Besides security at the base, the compound and the building entry, these systems were isolated behind four additional physical access controls within the building itself. Two of…

FYI, we're having the same issue; Oracle 11.2.0.4 RAC Standard Edition running the current DPA RC. We see the tab with our non-RAC databases, just not on the RAC instances. I'll open a case as well but wanted to make note here.
-
Yes. I've used a number of GUI performance tools. DPA is straightforward and simple to use. It gives vital information in an intuitive fashion, without requiring you to trudge through layers of navigation. Most of the other tools are a clutter of tabs and garbage screens that are just annoying to look at, and responsible…

* Feb 11 at 16:18 MST * I purchased the "I'm not Babbling" t-shirt * Qty: 1 * Size Large I added the item to my cart but didn't immediately put in my shipping details. When I tried to enter that information later (23:20-ish MST) it gave me an error. If I try to re-add it to the cart, it says I already have one in the cart,…
