I agree. There is is a reason it sells for 1495$. There isn’t much to it. Compare it with the likes of NetBrainer and Auvik though... now those are mapping solutions. NTM needs a serious makeover, or takeover... what is is it going to be?

Thanks, I want to thank all of participated in this thread. First time I see alot of people chiming in on any of my posts. Greatly appreciated. I will have to go through and re-read all the replies and perhaps try out the VNQM for a 30 day trial, and see what could be done in the interim using traps. Thanks again…

It would be nice if it wasnt specific to Cisco or Avaya... Doesnt Solarwinds know that there are other VoIP solutions far less expenssive then those 2? Like 3CX, Asterisk, Mitel, etc.... Pleas it's not clear even how the VoIP portion works and how it captures the data to analyze, or it's going into the call manager…

I did: Need help getting reports on outages And also opened a ticket 3 days ago and support has not responded still... Paying over 15,000$ in support and maintenance for what exactly?
-
ok i see it now i wansnt saving it in the reportts folder.... But same error i pasted earlier... System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): The multi-part identifier "Nodes.Vendor" could not be bound. The multi-part identifier "Nodes.Vendor" could not be bound. The multi-part identifier "Nodes.Vendor" could not be…

HI all, sorry, i've been off sick for 2 days. ok, so now my question is, how can I get alerted when the ping fails on my solarwinds but without using the VNQM module? The reason I say without VNQM is that our phone system is 3CX and thus this module wont give us any benifits.

ok, i dont understand what Im doing wrong here.... I imported your report and saved it, I preview and get an error like you mentioned, then I go to NPM and click on reports, it doesnt show up i cant find it anywhere... WTF?
-
this is not working for me as I explained... Im getting theses errors:
-
link is invalid/
-
can you paste the whole SQL query cause I cant get this to work keeps giving me an error, this is what I tried: SELECT * from ( SELECT StartTime.EventTime AS Down_Event_time, (SELECT TOP 1 EventTime FROM Events AS Endtime WHERE EndTime.EventTime >= StartTime.EventTime AND EndTime.EventType = 5 AND EndTime.NetObjectType =…

Thanks for your response Craig. Yes, I just pulled out an ASA5520 from it's box that we never deployed (as all our firewalls are Fortinet) but it doesnt seem to have the IP SLA commands. Possibly because it's not running the correct software version or software load, but trying to figure out if I could use this as a proof…
-
i cont install wireshark on this server. not allowed. But im re-visiting the previous option of perhaps ask the carrier to send us SNMP traps based on an IP SLA that they could setup on their router. Ill ask them.
-
i dont see all the VM servers and DB's but for network equipment only, we monitor 200 nodes.
-
And how do I add this report to the node detail's page? And i keep getting an error where ever I put the line AND Nodes.NodeID='${NodeID}' Where does it actually need to be"?
-
so this needs to be updated for 11.5 anyone know what needs to change?
-
but i need the duration for each outage?
-
Im new to creating reports and trying to do just what ">k1gaudineer is stating. How can this be done? Would need a step by step or something like that.

I just read the information supplied by D09H about the poll. Good info to know. My question now is as I packet sniff my network specifically for the icmp that Orion sends to one of the router, the pings are inconsistent. I have the node status polling set to 10 seconds and collect stats every 1 minute, and not seeing…
-
yes, but I need to report on the individual times the node was not available and for how many minutes/seconds for each event. Seems like this can be built using the report writer although I know nothing of SQL and all the reports I found and tried, give me errors of invalid column names.
-
Yes ! PLEASE ! The detect device interface is what I dream about because my network admins enable ports on switches but never go back to the node to enable that new interface to be monitored, so we go months without monitoring a new interface until something bad happens. Can we please get this feature? I dont want to…
-
Hi, That does not work. The report writer says: SQL Error: Invalid column name 'NodeID'. If I just do the report as this thread indicates, i get a SQL error: Invalid column name 'eventtime' BTW, im runining NPM 11.5.2 is this even good for my version?
-
ok but how does this need to be setup in order to get the preview shown?
-
how exactly are you doing this table? I've been trying to reproduce but im lost....
-
yes it's been monitored and in NCM for over a year. Step 3 is where im having issues, I dont know how to setup this report for uptime. I searched in the web report tool and there is no reports for uptime. So how is that done exactly?
-
That is correct Craig, I already have the node as a Status Only using ICMP. The issue is the pings. They are not consistante and not even close to 30sec...
-
ok, understood Zack thanks !
-
There seems to be an issue with the duration in hours. If the downtime goes from 6am to 7am but is only 24 minutes, the hours shows 1 eventhough the downtime was only 24 minutes but spanned a different hour. See example: ALB-FWEXT01.dc.cbnALB-FWEXT01.dc.cbn has stopped responding (Timeout)12/12/2015 6:37:53 AM12/12/2015…

The devices I am concerned with are routers (cisco) and owned and operated by the carrier not us. So SNMP or Traps is not possible. That is why we need to rely on PING, but need a more granular setting for ping like I mentioned, send 10 consecutive pings every 30 secs, report on RTT, Loss and response, which is what…

Thanks

How would you taylor this for 1 specific node ID (24) and where is the setting for retention?
