cvachovecj I'm running NCM 7.3 - is there a way to create a similar report on this version? I am planning to upgrade to 7.4 within the next week but this report would be very handy to have right now. Cheers

Hi Danielle, My thread regarding planning a hardware upgrade was getting some response, but has since been idle. I was wondering if you could recommend what more I could do to get some solid hardware recommendations? I've provided some more information on the thread, is there anything more I should provide? Is there anyone…

Hi Deltona, Thanks for getting back. Yes we are using Universal Device Poller and we are receiving Traps and Syslogs. We are currently monitoring 19,000 elements and want to upgrade to allow for 30,000. We have 2 pollers, a primary and a secondary, our primary poller is running on a virtual machine and our secondary is…

Hi Jiri, are you a SW engineer? I had a case open with support but we never got to the root of the cause. It has not happened since and if it does I will reopen the case

Don't understand what this means "Would check to see if there is a filter on the resource, or view limitation applied" is there somewhere in the admin guide I could look regarding this? Thanks

Thanks for that! "Experience is something you get just AFTER you need it." = bang on! I'll give that a try. So the writelock command is something on the Solarwinds side? If not, I'm not sure this will help me as the devices I am trying to run multiple commands on are F5's.

In addition - unfortunately, I couldn't see the output of my second command in the 'downloaded config' file although I could see the command being ran in the session trace. It looks to me that NCM just grabs the output of the first command and saves that as a config and won't save the poutput from multiple commnds in a…

Thanks Parker, I'll give those ideas a go

@Pavol.Sojcik thanks for the feed back. i Do you know if there is any documentation related to this version documenting this? I searched through the 10.3 release notes and the closest thing I found was "SNMP traps are no longer forwarded as SNMPv1 with an agent IP address of 0.0.0.0. Forwarded traps are now sent using the…

Thanks for the reply. Is this something I can find in settings on the web console?

So it is possible to monitor a firewall with multiple contexts with each context being seen as a different firewall? Have you achieved this yourself? We have an ASA 5585 with multiple contexts configured and I would like to monitor traffic on an interface on one of these contexts. This box is presently running SNMPv2 and…

Why did he need to remove the owner config??

Using these lines as suggested worked for me <Command Name="Startup" Value="show startup"/> <Command Name="Running" Value="more:system running"/> <Command Name="DownloadConfig" Value="${ConfigType}"/>

Thanks for the reply amarnath_r unfortunately this didn't work for me. This is the permissions I have set to allow the team I want to edit policy reports, rules etc. With users in the group being NCM admins which have "unlimited access to NCM functionality" I would have thought this should do the trick? Still didn't do the…

Thanks for the input Richard. All makes sense

HI tim, thanks for the reply. As outlined in my post I am unable to add the node to NPM in the first place. It is through adding the node to NPM that I manage to add it to NCM by ticking the "add node to NCM" box while editing the properties of the nodes. So what I basically need to do is some how bypass adding the node to…

Thanks @Parker_robinson for a very helpful answer, I'll have a look at each of the points you made and let you know how I got on. Appreciate the input!!

Thanks for the response, what do you mean the configs are not trimmed. Something similar to the java .trim() function? String.trim()? Why won't it just look for the line of code where secure-server$ is the end of it I don't understand? Thanks so much for the reply though

What does the job engine v2 actually do? I tried to restart all the Orion services with the Orion Service Manger and JOB engine v2 stays in a "stopping" state. I try to restart it and it just hangs in a stopping state? Would a reboot of the server fix this issue?

Why do you say check access list for the allowance of the additional poller? It is my NCM address that is trying to reach these nodes not my poller??? Thanks for all the replies guys, I have been busy and unable to get back here!!!

Hi LadaVarga, We are using NPM 10.3 and it's every interface chart across every node?! I looked to see if I could change this in web console settings but that only seems to allow me to set font size and whether I'd like to include a trend line or not etc. Can't seem to find anywhere I could change the default time period…

How did you choose to display the Serial number on your node details page?? When I get to "How do you want to display the results" part of assigning a poller the only options I am given are to display as a chart or a gauge! Neither of which disply the actual Serial number string? Thanks! pacetti

Hi PHA, We are upgrading to new hardware also, can I ask, what does this mean "Can I install and import the database backup to the new server"? Are you not running your SQL server to which you write your polling data on a seperate physical machine? Do you not just stop your NPM server from writing to that database then set…

Thanks Johnny Ringo appreciate the input sorry I've been so late getting back. Have you managed this in your own environment? I'd like to run this on about 5 Firewalls, why'd you ask? Re: 1) Create a copy of the ASA Device Template and Modify the Download Config Command for the commands you want. Then under the nodes with…

No I haven't contacted the Vendor - I suspected that there would be a common use for files containing the above? Are you familiar with this kind of output?

Sounds like a good idea, thanks for the input I'll give that a go!
