We were doing that exactly. But what ended up happening was that "Unknown" was being entered when warranty info wasn't readily available. Also, we have many more VM's then physical hosts which obviously don't need warranty information. It also ignores what we already have in.

I haven't opened a case because it is now displaying correctly. Nothing changed

This was so close to working for me... * I had to enable ping only to get any results * attempts to change the polling method via managed nodes failed. the option is grayed out, even one at a time. all icmp nodes had to be deleted and re-added one at a time.

I'm looking to do this too. The best I have been able to McGyver is to add a comment to the nodes in question then base the group on the comment field. The only other option I found was to use "Overall Hardware Status", Manufacturer ... But the results are ugly.
