I am glad to see that this is actively being worked on. Just today I thought to myself, "It sure would be nice to make notes on events so I could include them in an outage report". While this request is for alerts, it accomplishes the same goal!

oy! That is some Monday morning blues

I've been creating a new view for each user that uses NPM. It seems that everyone has a different resolution, and our help desk has various size TVs that display network information. Seems a bit silly to either create a new view or force people to scroll all over their page.

Thanks for touching base cobrien, it's the first we've heard from SolarWinds at all. I suppose we're having a hard time understanding the lack of movement behind this request. Personally I've interpreted it as a complete lack of interest from SolarWinds. The issue with the web console auto-refresh is a daily struggle for…

mesverrum has created a modernized version of the old How long each Node or Interface was down. NPM_v.10.6 resource. You should bug him to post it here

Dropping support for the 6800 as a whole? I've just found this article that shows EoL for their copper line cards, is that what you're referring to?

Oh dear, I just realized I'm in the hint for Monday's question! I am slightly disappointed that the question wasn't "How many hours per year is that dashing gentleman in the video saving with NCM?"

Bumpsquad's back

Since my first week with Orion, six years ago, I've had this minor annoyance. It's always been "one of those things" that just bothers you slightly, but you never do anything about it. This is our chance.

This is very important to me as well. It's impossible to monitor the inside and outside of our ASA's without creating a duplicate node.
-
This is a pretty neat workaround for when your pages are not refreshing, but we're looking for the ability to control the refresh rate on a view-by-view basis, or even have a button that pauses the refresh on the page you're using.
-
Makes sense to me! I was able to get all the nodes imported by removing their community strings from the discovery, which forced them to ICMP-only. Big thanks to SolarWinds support!
-
Understood, however the lack of support for this feature is forcing my company to look at other solutions. We can accomplish much more with various other technologies.

Last summer we had a storm knock out power to our building. No problem, the datacenter has battery backup and a generator. The UPS power kicked in immediately, and once the generator was spooled up power was switched to the generator. All seemed well. After about 3hrs the generator had a seal fail and all the coolant…

We had a vendor sell us a product that they knew wouldn't scale to our environment, but they took the "It's better to beg forgiveness" mindset in order to secure the sale. They also added hardware to the order that wasn't necessary and also included faulty hardware at every site that they won't replace. Their product took…

Bump bump!

I hit the exit button at the top and got a "thank you" page, but that happens no matter if you fill out the survey or not. I guess we'll see ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here's something I whipped up to help with this, there are many other versions in the SDK forum as well: Unmanaging and suppressing alerts for applications - Scheduled recurring maintenance windows

I feel bad that today's question is getting the better of so many folks, but at the same time I'm eyeing that Nintendo Switch
-
Can't wait to get to at least one of these. The travel time is worth it!
-
There is a "Polling Method" object in the "Node" category that will return SNMP, ICMP, or WMI.

Links are always nice for day-to-day browsing, but NOC TV's are typically static. Thanks for the post!

You don't need the hint for today's question, check out the product page for SCM: Server Configuration Monitor - Change Monitoring Tool | SolarWinds

Done!

That terrible, terrible sinking feeling when you miss the last week of questions because you were traveling... curses!
-
Just wanted to say that it's January 2022 and this is still an issue, but adding these lines to OrionSchema.xml definitely fixed the issue. Restarting the Information Service, doing an iisreset, or running config wizard did not work... but this did. THANK YOU!

The problem is that the interface indexes in the flow data do not match the indexes in the Firebox's SNMP database. I opened SolarWinds case ID 00855646 and we were able to confirm this by comparing a packet capture of the flow data from the Firebox to the interface indexes for the same device (managed with SNMP) in the…
