Hi trebor11584, The utilization is reported by the SNMP-agent. What we are concerned is that the Volume Size of your RAMs are ever-changing. To open a ticket: www.solarwinds.com/.../ticket Response will be given on handling your ticket. It will depends on the load of the support queue. HTH.

Hi trebor11584, Are you able to point out the Nodes that are having issues as you have encountered in the demo site? I have checked the Top 10 Volumes by Disk Space Used, and it seems that the volume size for all the RAMs are consistent, and not changing.

Hi trebor11584, Wireshark logs tends to be huge. And since the investigation is going too deep, I would recommend opening a ticket with us for investigation. As for the usage of wireshark, you will just have to install it on the NPM server, and start it on the interface that the packets are being exchanged between the IBM…

Hi trebor11584, That is one weird system that you have. The hrStorageSize OID is constant for Windows or Linux (via Net-SNMP). But the one that is on your IBM box ever-changing all the time.. What I do not understand is that the hrStorageSize and hrStorageAllocationUnits multiplied together... does not work for the RAM…

Hi trebor11584, Thank you for the update. If the SNMP walk / MIB walk gives constant values, whereas the Web Console that is showing these information is constantly changing, you might want to open a support ticket for further investigation. At this point, we might have to look deeper into what NPM is getting from time to…

Hi trebor11584, If the re-discovery of the volumes are causing the "size" to be different, are you able to confirm that an snmpwalk against the device at that time of re-discovery, if the values add up the same? It is weird because the hrStorageSize and the hrStorageAllocationSize that is picked up by the NPM server is…
-
Hi trebor11584, Can you clarify if the new values are from hrStorageSize?
-
Hi trebor11584, Before I answer you, I would like to know if the size of the volumes are as what we have seen in the snmpwalk results? 3,236,196,352 B 7,286,775,808 B 5,638,152,192 B 313,122,816 B
-
Hi trebor11584, Thank you for the information! I have calculated .2, .3, .4, .5 (that belongs to RAM) as indicated in your previous update using hrStorageSize x hrStorageAllocationUnits: 790087 x 4096 = 3,236,196,352 B 1778998 x 4096 = 7,286,775,808 B 1376502 x 4096 = 5,638,152,192 B 76446 x 4096 = 313,122,816 B…

Hi trebor11584, The syntax of the -D that I gave was working in the Linux box, but not in Windows. It should be: snmpwalk -v [version] -c [community] -D ALL [IP]
-
Hi trebor11584, Let's leave the -D aside first. Do snmpwalk for the following: hrStorageAllocationUnits = 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.4 hrStorageSize = 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.5 hrStorageUsed = 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6 And let me know the results.
-
Hi trebor11584, Opps. I forgotten a space between the IP and the -D... it should be: snmpwalk -v [version] -c [community string] [IP] -D ALL And with the posting of hrStorageAllocationUnits, it should be quite clear that the snmpwalk on the whole device will cause timeouts. If you refer to my earlier post, there are 3 OIDs…

Hi trebor11584, No worries, the answer to the questions that you have posed are: 1. If you do a snmpwalk or MIB walk against this device, and against other devices (e.g. Windows, Linux boxes, etc) that has Volumes, etc. you should be able to see that HOST-RESOURCES-MIB extend more than 4 values. 2. The following command…
-
Hi trebor11584, Thanks for the snmpwalk results. It seems that the issue is the same, having only 4 results: ========================================================= HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSystemUptime.0 = Timeticks: (299684708) 34 days, 16:27:27.08 HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSystemDate.0 = STRING: 2010-5-27,16:56:31.0,+8:0…

Hi trebor11584, It is not really that hard. What you will need to do, is to install Net-SNMP on the PC or server that is able to query the SNMP-agent of the device. After installation, the installer should make some changes to your environmental settings to be able to call out the binaries of Net-SNMP. What you need to do…
-
Hi trebor11584, Great! Let me know of the results.

Hi trebor11584, I am frankly not sure if it is a SNMP v1 issue. But along the tests, if SNMP v2 shows that it has no issues. Then can we say that it is SNMP v1 that is having issues. Net-SNMP is typically installed into Linux/UNIX boxes to let them have SNMP capabilities. They have a Win32 installer that can work in…

I think what Jiri means is that you should install a Orion NPM on one end, and the Additional Poller on the far end. And ensure that both can access CPE and set up a tunnel to communicate between them. Install IPSLAMGR on both of them (IPSLAMGR module installed on the Additional Poller does not require license) And you…
-
Hi trebor11584, For SNMP v2 to be used for managing the device in NPM, you will have to first ensure that the SNMP-agent on the device is responding to SNMP v2 requests. At this point, it seems that you have changed the Node to be managed using SNMP v2, but did not make changes to the SNMP-agent of the device. What I will…

Hi Jaja28, At least upgrade to Net-SNMP 5.4.2.1 if you can't make the move to upgrade to NPM 10.0 yet. The upgrade of Net-SNMP will remove ssCPUIdle, and place hrProcessorLoad, which will not have the issue of NPM showing 100% on a Linux box with 2% CPU usage. HTH.
-
Hi Jaja28, Your options are to upgrade either or both: * NPM 9.5 to 10.0 * Net-SNMP to 5.4.2.1 and above And also, you will have to confirm if there are restrictions set on community strings in the snmpd.conf. HTH.
-
Hi trebor11584, Is the NPM monitoring the device on SNMP v1 as well? Try changing to SNMP v2c on the device to see if that helps. It might be that the SNMP-agent on the IBM device is not working well. And it increases my suspicion that the SNMP-agent is causing the discrepancies in the Web Console.
-
If you are talking about 2 Orion NPMs on 2 separate server, of course you are able to do so. But a single license is only valid for a single installation. So, 2 licenses will be required.

Hi rabbid69, [Start | Programs | SolarWinds Orion | Grouping and Access Control | Custom Property Editor] [Add | Build a Custom Property from scratch] Add Property to: Nodes Property Name: Dependency Property Type: Text Max Text length: 50 Enter the router's name in the "Dependency" column for the Servers. * Note:…

Hi Warlynx, The ticket seems to be closed since 19-May-2010. If the problem is still existing, we would like to have you log a new ticket with us and we will help you out with it. Cheers!
-
Hi trebor11584, The information that you boxed in red is actually volume information that is populated by HOST-RESOURCES-MIB. That is the reason I am wanting to see that information to try and see the result I get from manual calculations. There really isn't anything else that I will need to see except that ;)
-
Hi Jaja28, Firstly, Net-SNMP v5.4.2.1 and above depreciated ssCPUIdle as it is buggy (with the value of the OID reporting wrong at times) with the hrProcessorLoad. And we would request you to upgrade to at least 5.4.2.1, or to go ahead with Karlo's recommendation to 5.5: http://www.net-snmp.org On Net-SNMP, there is…
-
Hi trebor11584, You should point the sending of Netflow statistics from the Riverbed to the NPM/NTA server and NOT the IP of the physical machine. If wireshark are not showing Netflow statistics in the traffic sniffs, it means that the traffic are not reaching the NTA service, and it will not show up in the Web Console as…

As long as Orion IPSLAMGR is installed above Orion NPM, it will be fine.
-
Hi trebor11584, For it to be considered in the future release of Orion NPM, you might want to submit a ticket with us and quote this thwack URL, and we will raise it as a feature request. Cheers!
