I know, I remember upvoting your feature request. By your statement about some limitations, is it safe to say that this feature won't be added ever? I have implemented some monitoring using SAM and templates from Thwack, but right now my DBA team is looking for more or looking to have it done by DPA module. Thanks for the…

My advice to my past System Admin is to get trained! Spend time in reading blogs, watching videos and taking up courses. It definitely helps, you recall/remember what you learned years later when you least expect it. Also, don't just confine yourself to one topic/area. Talk a lot to your colleagues from different teams…

Leon, thanks for providing me this information. I will check and see how I can utilize this in my case. We have more than 100 mini-sites with very frequent maintenance and giving node management rights to technicians on these sites are not working fine with me. Mudassir Syed

The way I divide my learning is 1. Basics 2. Learn thing which I presently work on have easy access 3. New technology/tools or skills Basics - I sometimes like to go back and spend time on learning basics - a few years in my career and I went back and learned from my undergrad courses and books. Thought about that, what happens to the active alerts/alert instances when I run the command or while it's running? and do I need to flush the cache or something like that? I am just wondering what I should be ready for after that.

Ok, so I found out that can be done by manage nodes page. Multiselect the nodes to edit > edit properties > select/ check "Change VMware Polling settings" and make desired changes. Thanks Mudassir

Unfortunately, there is no separate set of permission in which you can give the right to 'only mute' and nothing else along with it. Currently, you have to provide 'Node management' access in order to do so. I have requested this as a feature, please upvote. http://https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/11147

Work in progress.

Hi, Your question is a bit confusing but I'll try to guess what you're trying to achieve here. Are you trying to change SolarWinds Polling Engine of the server? If yes, you can do that in multiple ways. 1. Go to the Node details page and click on 'Edit Node' scroll down to 'Polling' tab and you can find the 'change polling…

Basically, my question was How many processes must be monitored? probably top 10? I found out that * A server is configured to just one or two major application which includes other few apps/process in the shape of dependency process. for instance, SQL server. * Only the dependency processes needs to monitored for the…
