In case anyone else sees this error, I figured out the problem with the command. There is an extra ? mark in the text. When copy / pasting I found that it sometimes adds a ? mark. I, however, am still having problems with the original error (Unable to create wsMan listener (Error code: 16024)) on some of my servers. I have…

You should be able to accomplish your task by using the Advanced options in the alert.
-
If you have VMAN integrated with SAM, you should be able to use key on the tools status of anything other than Not Running. This is found under Virtual Machine category.
-
There is a canned alert in SAM called Host Rebooted. Is this the one you are trying?

Security aside, I had a ticket open with support on a different issue. I was told that the issue was a limitation of the current OS. They stated that that they were working on a future release on an updated OS. However, support wasn't allowed to tell me how far along they were in releasing the new version / OS.

In simplest form, monitoring is using dashboards and reports to display the metrics. Alerts involve taking some type of action such as restarting a service, notifying someone, writing to a log, etc.
-
I generally use a custom table for items like this.
-
I have used psexec before to get access to a "broken" sql server. Recover access to a SQL Server instance
-
When you assign the template to the node, you can specify the instance that you want monitored. I believe if you leave it blank, you just need to ensure that the account you are using has the appropriate access to each of the instances.

Are the devices separated via a firewall from the poller?
-
Is it Windows or Linux? If Windows, you need admin rights to the server to get WMI If Linux, you need to ensure SNMP is configured properly.
-
Short answer is I don't think there is a way to estimate it inside SAM. The way I would handle it. Option 1. Add everything you think you want to monitor during the trial. You can then look at the final count to see where you stand. Option 2. Add in "average" systems. Do the math based upon your findings.

Are you using HA or do you plan on duplicating all work on both environments? Here is how I would set it up. Others may have better suggestions. Pollers: A poller at each site. Each poller would be in a HA pair with one at the other site. Web Servers: Load balanced web servers across the data centers. SQL: Solarwinds…

Got it. CPULoad.DATETIME > ADDDAY(-1, GETDATE()) SWQL Functions · solarwinds/OrionSDK Wiki · GitHub

I would just use vm.uptime:[0 TO 86400]. VM Uptime is represented in seconds, so 86400 will give you the last 24 hours. you can build your widget using a TopN and pick the uptime as the sort field. You can then add in additional columns as needed.
-
You should be able to use a Performance Counter Monitor to look for the specific metric.
-
If you are talking about VMAN, it's licensed by the number of sockets in your environment. SolarWinds sells the license pack in specific increments, so if you fall in between the tiers, you'll have to upgrade to the next tier.
-
Can you attach screenshots of what you have set up?
-
Just taking a guess here as I don't have anything published on the exchange. Do you have the ability to go in and edit your previous post where you uploaded the older version? i have noticed that some of the posts have a version number at the upper right and say last modified by whomever on whatever date.

We recently started building dependencies. Our dependencies are application to database.
-
Sounds like you need to use Custom Properties (Settings -> Manage Custom Properties). You can create custom properties and make them whatever you want. You can then use them to filter, report, etc.
-
I am currently learning Splunk. I don't have admin access to Splunk actually install the app, but I'm curious as to what you get out of it so I can push for it to be installed.

Appstack is built into SAM at no extra cost. It however does not popu the entire stack with just SAM. Other products such as DPA and SRM fill in the gaps.
-
I could be wrong, but I don't believe the services are being monitored if you are not monitoring them through an application template. Can you explain more of what you are referring to?
-
I am monitoring about 13K devices, mostly virtual, but some physicals. I have SAM and VMAN tied in. With that, my database is currently sitting at about 80GB after almost a year of data collection.
-
If you click on the site name that you don't want to monitor, you should see an unmanage button.
-
I was able to fix it by deleting the volumes and recreating them. The volumes didn't seem to switch over from SNMP to Agent polling when I switched the node to agent.
-
In that case, then it sounds like a support ticket is your best route. Since I was in POC when I had the issue, I don't have a case I can go back and reference. I did find in my emails where I had to update a couple of dlls around the same time, but I am not sure if they were for this exact issue. And that was multiple…
-
What version of NPM and IVIM are you using? I had a similar issue when doing the POC on SAM, but it's resolved now. I tried looking through my emails and found where I sent the issue to Solarwinds, but we apparently met to resolve it so I don't have documentation on what was done.

Since joining Thwack in April 2016, I can't think of many working days that I wasn't on the site at least once. Part of my time on here was because I was standing up SAM and VMAN and had questions. Part of it was because I like finding out things about the product I didn't know. And part of it was to help out other newbies…
