  • Unless something has changed that I'm not aware of - NCM Administrator's Guide, Page 62: "RealtimeNotification This text is displayed as the username value. Currently, there is no means to parse the message text for the username. The text is required to include the Message variable"
  • Yes you can. I've done it before with Dell and HP servers. You will need to install the respective hardware vendor's software and then create a UnDP to check the logical drive status. If I remember correctly (it's been some time) the OID is either: 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.3.1.1.4 - cpqDaLogDrvStatus or…
  • Dthorne, You can download the updated MIBS for your device here: http://support.nortel.com/go/main.jsp?cscat=SWDETAIL&id=900809&poid=14761 These will download in a full zip archive with all the current MIBs. Hope this helps!
  • Is this a ping only node or does it have SNMP monitoring as well? What version of NPM are you using? It almost sounds like you have a convergence issue with your network. It sounds like a ping got stuck in a kind of loop where eventually it's time to live expired and the router that was the last hop reported back.
  • Remote desktop on to the NPM server, click start --> All program --> Solarwinds Orion --> Alerting, Reporting, and Mapping --> Advanced Alert Manager. Find the Alert you wish to change, highlight it and then click edit. CLick on the tab labeled Trigger Action and then edit the Email action.
  • Two ways I can see you doing this, both involve using the Scheduled Task tool. You can create a custom report (There might already be a built in custom report) or create a special view that only shows all currently triggered alerts and then use the scheduler to email the view or custom report daily.
  • That is a Windows error, a quick google revealed this link: Windows Crypt32 Error It revolves around Windows wanting to install an expired root certificates update. From a newsgroup post: "I have manage to solve the this error by downloading the authrootstl.cab manually and installed the certifcate manually too. I have not…
  • You could adapt this powershell query using SAM: get-wmiobject -class Win32_product | select name That will send a list of all Software that is installed on a machine. I think using this would be better than running a SNMP OID query every 5 mins as with a SAM monitor you can dictate how often it runs.
  • I've gotten the same error, I've reran the Configuration Wizard and that cleared the problem. Hasn't given me any issues since.
  • Do you have your search criteria set properly and placed a check mark next to "Show Acknowledged Alerts"? Network Objects: All Network Objects Type of Device: All Device Types Alert Name: All Alerts
  • If I recall correctly, someone chime in if I'm wrong, but NCM only has 5 rolls that you can use: Administrator, Engineer, WebDownloader, WebUploader, and WebViewer. I haven't tried or tested setting hard account limitations in NPM, but I don't think that is going to affect the NCM integrated web portion.
  • I think you posted in the wrong section of Thwack. This is for SDK issues. I think this belongs to the regular NPM forum threads. However if you 'list resources' on the node, does it show you any of the disks? If not then I would suspect either your AS400 to be restricting the MIBs reported.
  • The Hot Standby engine will only take over for the main polling engine if it's down. It's not designed to load balance, you'll need to get another polling engine license to accomplish that.
  • On the Trigger Actions tab, click 'Add new action' and then select 'Send Email / Page' Go through each of the tabs and make sure that the SMTP Server tab is populated with the correct information especially if the mail server you're pushing alerts through requires Authentication. Hope this helps.
  • If you add the Aruba controller as an NPM node via SNMP, it should pull down in to the Wireless portion of NPM all your AP's users etc and sort them into the Wireless feature. You shouldn't need to add the AP's directly.
  • What are you trying to accomplish? You want to download and archive the configs or do you want to be able to change them?
  • Mystic, Where you hold the database is really up to you. If you are going to be using NCM for many devices, I would suggest putting it on a separate SQL server with it's own database. Remember, key to databases is disk I/O meaning make sure the RAID is built correctly and you have enough spindles in the array. Not…

  • Did you run the IPSLA installer bits on each poller?
  • Jason, First make sure you have selected 'Volume' as the 'Type of Property to Monitor' under the 'Trigger Condition' tab. If you leave it as type of 'Node' it won't use the volume table for the email message body. To get the ServerName and Drive letter use the ${Volumes.Fullname} in your message body. This will show…
  • Did you create interface alerts? You may need to add 'node.' to the front of the variable. Like: ${Node.IP_Address}
  • The Orion server cannot access the Orion NCM information service. The exact error was 'There was no endpoint listening at net.tcp://xx.xx.xx.xx:17777/SW/InformationService/Cirrus/ssl that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more…
  • Give this a try (Not sure if it will work or not): Send the alert in HTML format <img src="http://domain.com/path/to/image.jpg"></img> It may open in the email reader if it's allowed to show remote images.
  • I wouldn't expect it to alert more than one. You'll need to include the status for all the devices that have been stored in the database that was obtained by the UnDP. When you created the alert, it checks all the values that were obtained starting on the first row and it will alert when it hits it's first match. I would…
  • Node caption is allowed 255 characters. There was a bug submitted back in October that would drop any characters after 32 but only on nodes discovered using the Bulk Discovery option. Don't know if it's been fixed yet.
  • NPM won't allow you to have two separate nodes with the same IP address. If the GPON will allow you to have two separate IP addresses on the same interface, you could assign a new IP address and use the second SNMP string.
