I thought I knew what I was reading and had chosen answers for today's question. I'm glad I looked at the hint. It helped me wake up and get the right answer. Phishing != Fishing... unless you haven't had enough coffee.

I credit Thwack.com (and my users) for alerting me to the beginning of the Dyn DNS DDoS cyber attack. Crude but effective monitoring.

Mine is a rainbow colored one... I mean, I've seen one like that recently. Fortunately, virtualization is making much of that wall obsolete.

Been there, done that, shut off the port and restored from backup.

Yes. Sorry, I don't have any prizes to hand out.

I've used a product that "keeps data in its original 1 minute granular form indefinitely, so you have a 100% network baseline from day one. Our proprietary database technology stores your data from thousands of ports every minute in real-time." It did what it said and did it quickly. So, it's do-able, and worth the price.…

Wow. I got yesterday's question correct on the first try (after comparing it to question 3). Then others got multiple tries which cheapens my effort. At first I was angry about that. Then I realized it was karmic payback for not pointing it out to the community and avoiding the ensuing craziness that followed. There are…

Man, I needed that chair to have something stable to sit on at work.

The Securities Exchange Act of 1934 is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules.

Awesome prizes! Which makes it disappointing if I don't win . But at least I learned, just from the prizes alone, how to turn my HDTV into a PC (with a stick )! If I don't win it, I might buy it.

I really like today's question. It is clear, but still takes some effort to find the answer. Kinda like if I had a question about how to use the product.
-
I was a day ahead of myself too. I guess I'll have to quit taking vacation since I get so confused.

I should have added to my previous comment that due to the nature of regulation/compliance, it took guts to put together a mission like this. I very much appreciate the effort put into this mission and the hard work of wabbott DanielleH and lindsey.serrano for herding us cats.

Nice ticket number!

"... and I helped!", bump.

WTF does fruit have to do with sports? bump https://www.google.com/ Of course, I had to check out the newest doodle. It was likable and there was definitely a theme mixing fruit with sports, which begged the question... WTF does fruit have to do with sports? Ahhh... The Olympics! Great marketing!?

Goes with a little diddy by Frankie Goes to Hollywood ;-)

Your resentment of the implication implies that you are feeling guilty about said behavior, especially since it was not personal to you, but instead applied to the community at large, which is engaged in prize-seeking behavior.

See also: Sorry, I'm about to decomm/ingore/retire/archive several nodes, so that's what I'm most interested in. And, as many before me probably have done, I will create a workaround and then completely forget about the whole concept.

Reading the comments for additional hints about debatable/troublesome questions also helps some. And I still miss a few :-(

Since certain IT functions have been outsourced (NICE RAC), I don't have to say that anymore.

I was able to make the meme simply enough. I had a problem editing the existing post in thwack (Jive?), which gave me that error.
-
Thank you. I think it is appropriate reading for where I am in my monitoring career.
-
I tried to edit that post several times with a couple different browsers and kept getting this error. "Your content could not be saved due to an error. You may have been logged out. If this problem persists please contact your system administrator. Click here to refresh this page." Maybe I'll try again next week.

I think it's fun too. I think, like me, most of you know what you want from IPAM and it seems that the questions and answers indicate that IPCB meets the requirements.

Paraphernalia like a red Swingline?

I agree that because this discussion specifically called out Equifax, it is appropriate not to deviate. And I did intentionally intend to broaden the scope of the meme to include other businesses which invoke "parlay", but maybe that's better done separately.

I have a similar nightmare, except the upgrade doesn't happen because the server isn't documented, and the failure to upgrade has unknowingly broken a dependency for a business critical application that is only used once every four years and the date is... Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

While they don't come close in terms of breadth of coverage of tools like Solarwinds, they key to operate them is to keep them simple & manageable. And no they aren't more expensive if you don't pay for it and have the appetite to tinker around…

I don't know. I'm a network guy, but I dug around and found what you're talking about. Next time I catch it misbehaving I'll report what I find. Thanks!
