I would definitely like to see #2 implemented into NTM in the near future. This seems like an feature that should be standard since scanning entire networks takes time, resources, and is impractical.

Rdewar, Your two cents was very insightful. I find myself agreeing with the idea of splitting the road and taking both paths simultaneously. Having a more fleshed out mapping tool with added integration and competitive features and similarly having a competitive cost with other mapping tools would help maintain that "one…

Okay, I'll keep looking into it. Thanks for all your help! The compliance report is also a very nice addition. I'll use this as a ground point for designing some compliance reports for our needs. Thanks again!

Quick question regarding uplink ports. In effect, this would be the same as distribution switches that only link fiber from other switches, correct? If so, there shouldn't be a need to monitor all the ports on switches that simply connect other switches in other buildings if my thinking is correct. Thoughts?

Craig, Thanks again for the comment! I recently got through a pile of other work and came back to this and was stumped. In the end, it was the VLAN context that made all the difference. Once I added the context for the correct VLANS to the SNMPv3 group, everything worked!

One quick question and this should be all wrapped up! 1. How can I specify an "enter" key hit? At the end of the user config string, it looks like random values were entered for the notify view which isn't being used in my command. Specifically this value was input "*tv.FFFFFFFF.FFFFFFFF.FFFFFFFF.FFFFFFFF0F"

Good info! If you find the link, can you post it here? I would like to have some additional documentation for that change just to make sure all the bases are covered.

Peter, My apologies, I have been using the Toolset Launch Pad and not the Workspace Studio! This is so much better! There is support for 256 AES and the credentials are shared. Thank you for pointing this out.

Adam, When I originally posted this question I was using an old version of NTM. We now have the newer version and I see the additional option now to exclude addresses specifically. I haven't played with it much yet but thanks for pointing that out!

As I suspected, it may be a little more involved than just specifying some IPs. I'll keep looking into it but thanks for the reply!

Thank you both for the reply! Craig, I went through your list and most things seem to be checking out. Quick question regarding snmp-server traps. We are using SNMP V3. Is there a mib family view that will catch all this required information? As I understand it, the default views will strip out ARP and IP routing tables…

Thanks for the reply Craig, copy run start startup-config dir worked for me. The CRLF, even when using multiple, still would not simulate an enter press like I wanted it to. Thanks again!

Deverts, I checked my NCM settings and sure enough there was the folder location. Thanks again for the help!
-
Thanks! I'll check out those options.

So I can simply save those specific commands as the script and have it run that? I got it to work with a real janky solution. I used a change template and removed all the reference calls and input my commands. It appears since there was nothing to reference that the switch ignored everything else and used only the specific…

When I go to create a report and select "Custom Node Poller" the poller that I have made is not contained within the list. Searching through all columns does not find it either. I have the poller active in Universal Device Poller and can get the data posted on the SolarWinds website through that but I cannot use this…

Thanks for the info. It is working as expected and new devices showing up on the network are now displayed as "rogue" devices since they are not a part of that list. This makes the Rogue devices utility much more effective! Thanks!
-
Thanks for the reply! I will give that a shot.

Are there wildcards that can be used either in a script, remediation script, or a config change template? If I could define certain digits/letters as constants that need to be kept, that would make this really easy.

Jeff.stewart, That's a good document. Thanks for sharing!

Afox, Thanks for the info. So all elements considered, I am estimating between 1000-1500. Now once the new system is up, we will then begin either adding or trimming back on some elements that aren't necessarily needed in the beginning and start branching out from the essentials once they are set up.
-
Klinejw, For the amount of nodes, this will range between 150-300. We are currently in the process of starting over and reorganizing our network infrastructure. As far was what "elements" are, I am unfamiliar with this term as I am extremely new to the Solarwinds suite of apps.

Ericg13 I am brand new to Solarwinds and all of their apps so I have been acclimating to the new environment and I have the same question as you. The only thing I have found to work around this is to edit the map properties. What I do is: 1. Make initial large scan 2. When I find a switch or an IP I want to add, I click…
