My apologies, I thought you were the one who posted this. Thanks for your assistance.

Thanks for the screenshot but it doesn't answer my question directly. Were you running SAM 6.2 when you opened the case back in March or 2013? Or could they not help you also at the time because you weren't at version 6.2? I have an immediate need for this information that can't wait for me to put together a project to…

aLTeReGo, was wondering if support was able to assist you here? I opened a case for the same issue and they said I would need to upgrade to SAM 6.2. I'm using SAM 6.1.1 Before I submit a project to upgrade SAM for this I'll need proof that our current version doesn't support it. Support showed me this in the release notes…

Thanks ... I found the following: http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/apm/docs/Troubleshooting_Hardware_Health.pdf SolarWinds Technical Reference Troubleshooting Hardware Health It notes this requirement: The Hardware Monitoring Agent software, (provided by the vendor), is installed on the remote server. This applies…

You may want to re-read my original posting. I'm seeing the hardware tab on an ESX server but Hardware and Health is not an option on it's resources.
-
That is correct. I'm looking for the requirements to be able to see the Hardware Health check box when I list resources on the ESX servers. I thought it was OMSA, since that's available for ESX servers from Dell. Actually I'd like to have that information for other servers like Linux and Sun also. Knowledge base articles…

To clarify, management prefer's to monitor all nodes via WMI. I got scolded when I switched it to SNMP and was told to switch it back.
-
Thanks for the info. Do you know the url for web servers best practices or administration guide so I can use that for my project documentation? I couldn't even find that ...
-
Thanks, I presumed it had that, but we don't have that license. Was hoping someone had an application template or component that could do this without Virtualization Manager.
-
We have SAM 6.1.1. ... Are there instructions on how to use SAM for hardware monitoring? It doesn't seem like it will be the same as OMSA and Dell Windows servers where we'll see the hardware tab on our nodes?
-
Keegan, thanks for those links! So if I'm reading that correctly, based on the chart SolarWinds does not monitor the drive hardware health when using WMI node polling. Yes, OMSA 8.4 is installed on the Window's server node. Or is there any way to configure Solarwinds to enable this feature?
-
Actually I reached out to the owner of the server and they didn't mind loosing the history on the node because it was being moved from a test to a production environment so I changed it to poll via SNMP. The drives are showing now!
-
I get that all the time when editing a node, either by just changing SNMP community string choice, or changing from ICMP to SNMP polling and also editing multiple custom node properties. Usually while editing the custom node properties I scroll down and wait for the processing icon to finish to proceed to the next custom…

FYI. for others that may read this post. I opened a case and got confirmation that my settings were correct but found out that if account groups exist with overlapping membership the least restrictive permissions applied. I assumed the opposite. So to correct it I just removed the group members from the group with less…

FYI for others that may read this post. I only posted this to get feedback from other users. I didn't think anything was actually needed because the DB server is separate from the App server. But I needed to document my project document with feedback from others and/or the vendor (Orion). I opened a case and was told that…

Found: Status values But still it would be cool if the Excel report would have those values rather then having to edit and put in the right English translation

Polling settings ...Events Retention

I think I figured out the answer on the nodes with no data. Asset Inventory is not a resource that is selected on those nodes which is where I pulled the data from "Asset inventory / Last Polled"
