Ive worked this out. thanks for your help guys. this works fine now but theres a 10 minute delay from the AP going down to orion reporting it.

APPOLOGIES. I did receive an alert but it was 12 minutes after I shut down the AP so I missed it. however the email only shows a mac address. how do i get it to show the AP name? I have recently rolled out over 300 AP's over several sites so I need more info in the email.

this answers a question i have about monitoring switches in a stack. But, when I list resorses i dont see a check box for Stack Ports appart from a recently upgraded ios on a stack. im asuming this is related and i need to upgrade the ios on all my 3750's or is there something else i need to enable on the switch?

all the new sites are allowed through firewall for snmp using port 161. i am getting stats for all nodes but not the links.

I am using ver 9.5 service pack 5 with cisco controllers and cisco AP's and it works fine. It might be worth tryng the latest version.

it seems to be mainly the links which show as unknown. i have just installed some new networks in different sites. as an example, on one site all nodes are up and green but links are unknown which causes the map to go grey. in another site the nodes are up and green but are in unknown state along with the links. thanks

we are using cisco controllers and cisco lightweight ap's. I can see the controllers and all ap's on orion in the wireless tab but dont get alerts if they go down. I was hoping it would alert the same way a node would on the network. I am now thinking I need to add the ap's to the maps? any ideas cheers

the ASA is a 1Gb interface but it is configured as 100Mb full duplex. NPM is using the default setting which seems to pick it up as 100Mb. That seems correct but gives the wrong usage stats. if i change NPM bandwidth to 1000Mb/s it seems to give the correct value. Is that the answer to the problem? Thanks for your help
