Woop, all seems fixed to me, chasing that 200 too.

We hadn't considered RTCD for reboots as the SNMP usually picks it up. We just monitor syslog for the "$ is editing the configuration" etc.

I presume in the unlimited version the only restriction would be machine specs/db size. We have about 38,000 in ours.

I've not found a way to do this yet, but it would be worth submitting a feature request for it. I'd vote for it.

Have you checked to see if there are reverse DNS entries for the Desktops within the DNS servers that your UDT server can access? I would imagine this is the way that these hostnames are found.

We've found it cannot replace the need to have a competent Networking person to understand what it all does. Despite what management think. As people have said the Platform will do almost all you'd need. You need to put the effort in to achieve it though. Thwack will help with this.

We were using it a huge amount in $job -1, circa 40,000 public ip's. Lots and lots of subnets and VLANs. I agree with almost every point. Dynamic supernets is a great idea, any form of grouping would be great.

When I had to do the same thing, them in a separate group. Then leveraged custom alerting to make them alert backwards. Are you using Cisco IP SLA type functionality?

All interfaces are monitored, this is looked after by the NOC, then dependent on the alert this is raised to the appropriate team. Networks/Servers/Devs etc.

If you are using VMware have you considered using snapshot backups? It's far easier than digging into the filesystems.

There's a really good guide on partioning for SQL server and NPM. I'll update the thread when I find it. Are your webserver, poller and SQL server located on the same machine?

I removed and re-added the device and only selected the ports in NPM that UDT could see. This seems to have fixed the issue.
