All I can say is, we left one of the best Captain of all off. Long Live Gene Colan!

Congrats mimcginnis! I guess I will just have to console myself with eggnog...

You are right about Apple, with its individualized and consumer-based market, having the luxury to take the approach that innovation trumps support of legacy products. I wonder if with their growing success in the enterprise they may be in the same "boat" as Microsoft soon.

To Maria and all on Thwack: Do something fun this weekend... enjoy yourselves!

I have come to the conclusion that I should be paying more attention to the hints this month.
-
Silverbacksays should be writing speeches for those who do NOT win an Oscar: "It is an honor to have been nominated." "Art is not about competition it is about something much higher."
-
Congratulations to the winners... and to the rest of us: Good luck this month!
-
So far so good. Last month's was rough. I have high hopes for this month.

We have three generations going as a family outing. We are all looking forward to it. It has to be better than the last three.

The hint is in the downloaded .pdf

To help put my two daughters through private colleges, I moonlighted for awhile at the Genius Bar of a local Apple Store. It was a regular occurrence to have people bring in iPhones and iPads that had gone into lakes, pools, and toilets (don't get me started about that one!). I lost count of the number of still-wet devices…

My favorite was delivering a new iMac to someone. When I was plugging the computer in, the woman said to me, "I was told that this computer was wireless. I need a wireless computer."

How do you drive a fanboy/fangirl crazy?

Let see: * Great information * Points toward a free "You Don't Know Thwack" mug to replace my "Whoa, take'er easy there pilgrim" John Wayne mug for work * AND a chance to win Surface Pro...! Maybe the end of October is not so scary after all. Thanks Thwack!

Yes that was a surprisingly frequent experience. Most surprising to me was when they did NOT get embarrassed at all.

Congrats

Love the 70s ABA look. The only cards I kept from my much-too-massive baseball and basketball card collection ( I started collecting as an 8 year old in 1968) were my ABA cards. I just could not part with them. Kudos to the photoshop artist behind these!!!

Reminds me a bit of. "go in my toolbox and find the left-handed screwdriver for me."
-
Maybe I am biased, but it seems like MicroSoft continues to be stuck in catch-up-to-Apple mode. The result always ends up being somehow both simultaneously derivative and disappointing.
-
We ended up going with the term "TechCenter." It has become our "brand."

Textbook publishers should be reading the tea leaves.

We do in a district of 10,000 students. It is a logistical juggling act when you factor in white-gloving, set-up, inventory, and repairs, network etc.
-
Rick, I am sending an email your way as well. We have had a few requests for the same thing.
-
Victor J, thanks for responding

jm_sysadmin I will add it to the list, Thanks

What is the status on integrating the iOS discovery capabilities of Casper and WHD? Since it works with computers, it should work with iOS devices shouldn't it?
-
I really like this. We are just in the process of looking at a way to make better use of the FAQ function in WHD. This will be a great help in that. Thanks for sharing.
