Well thank you, I am also interested in doing what you are with populating switchport, mac, etc to a database. perhaps you could elaborate on the way you have it set-up. Sounds like you have things pinned down pretty good. Do you also use authenticated DHCP/Net Registar in your environment?

Could you post the script Thanks

I have SLX. Yes the 2G limit is easily reached as I experienced this with the ToolKit. May I suggest you use the enterprise Version of the O/S or you will also be limited to 2GB of Memory!

It would be nice to be able to have Interface Availability/%UpTime to measure the performance of Circuits. mgibson

I have changed the ICMP PAcket size to 0 bytes and the packets are still 124 bytes in length. Does the Service need to be bounced in order for the setting to take??

Thank You for the clarification

The same has happened to me. I was told by support that the 10.1.2 upgrade would solve my High CPU utilization on my primary poller. It has not, in fact it may be worse. however, in my case I also upgraded my SQL server to 2008 and I have a hardware limitation of 12 gb memory and of course SQL wants it all, I think I may…

Thank You Your response brings to mind the following: How would one update the MIBS for Orion?

You will also need your original reportwriter.schema file

The only solution I found was to truncate the Active Alerts table.

I found that from NPM, SNMP works ok, and when I do the validate SNMP from NCM it also works ok. I get this error in the log when an inventory job is done.

Insure your virus protection is allowing SMTP. Insure your SMTP Relay Server is allowing mail from you. Not enough info to determine if mail ever worked before.

Thank You very much. Could you perhaps provide me with an example using both the old Alert Engine(7.4.x) and the New Beta Alert Engine? Thank You

I have done what was suggested and devices downstream now have a polling rate of double that of the upstream router. When setting up the alert suppression, how does it know to suppress alerts from the devices on the down stream side of the router as I have not identified which devices are downstream? I configured the alert…

Thank You for the responses! I have been seeing notes on v8 that would allow for setting dependencies that would allow for better alert suppression. Could someone from SW elaborate on if it is worth my while to begin creating alert suppression scenarios with the v8 beta or wait for final release?? Thanks

If you are monitoring many devices(me 900+ nodes and 6k int), it has to load in memory first before the mgr screen will appear. You can bring up process manager by hitting ctl+alt_del/task manager and once the memory is up to its highest level, u should start seeing screens, actually if you start the netperfmon service and…

The easiest way I have found is to create a Custom Field, for instance I use a field called 'Support' and populate this with my teams like server, network, voice, etc. Hope this helps you.

I have a G3 MSL 4048 and I seem to be getting SNMP authentication failures, even though I am sucessfully communicating via SNMPv2. Any updates on UNDP's for this?

One can use Remote Desktop(RDP) to access the server in which Sys Mgr is located but there are resolution problems when using maps. It is suggested that PC Anywhere be used as it utilizes higher than 8bit color. Or You can buy the Remote Admin Package. Either way to get full functionality you have to buy something. Before…

I tried this script and I get an error at line 48 char 1, this is the space just before the set networknode = nothing. has anyone has success with this script??

Would one need to create a custom field in ORION? If so, how would you have this field appear on the nodes detail screen? How could you get this field to auto-populate via the ORION discovery cycle?
-
Any thoughts on when Node Detail Tabs will honor account and view limitations?
-
The quick answer is YES you will need a license for an additional poller. However, I am curious to know how you came to the conclusion that you are at 95% capacity. I have found that the main limitations is the hardware itself.

I use the logging source-interface XXXX to insure the proper interface is reported to orion for syslog and traps, etc.

I have had this issue for the last couple of weeks, in fact I have had this issue before that. In my situation, When I upgraded to v10.4.2 when Hardware health monitoring(HHM) came to be, because I monitor servers and network devices, my loading across my pollers was not right. Before, one balanced their pollers by shear…

It is now May 21, 2013, Has anyone found a solution to this? I am running NPM 10.4.2 and the Nexus 5K device is running 5.2(1)N1(1b), based on what was previously mentioned above, I am running the cisco code that has a known bug, however has anyone found a sound solution (interface issues)? I checked and my 7K's are…
