When you mention custom properties, are you saying those can be used to affect what kind of scanning happens on a subnet/address?
-
Indeed. Why is this not already an option???
-
It seems almost criminal that there is no integration between nodes and IP addresses within the Orion platform.

I feel like this falls in the 'duh' category...

I agree wholeheartedly. I trialed IPAM quite a while ago and ran into this issue. Trying it again now in hopes that this was either changed or I missed something last time but it doesn't look like it Like OP, I was hoping/assuming that this IPAM solution would let us move away from "external documentation" (OMG so many…

Actually found a workaround for this but I don't love it... You have to add an OR block at the end and put the "is not equal to" statement in there along with an "is empty" statement:

Would be super-helpful! Currently looking to create a group that contains all nodes that are VMs and match a certain custom property and it looks like this can't be done with the current dynamic query construct
-
I kindof assumed that the point of adding DNS servers and doing zone transfers to the IPAM system was that it would allow for this type of functionality... If I open details for an address in IPAM, I can see the DNS record(s) in there with the correct hostname for the IP but... that does not transfer to the Hostname field…

YES! We need this!!!

Please, for the love of god, add this basic feature

This very much seems like a bug and is still an issue 6+ years later *sigh* Goal was to have a trigger condition be based on a node's custom property not equaling a specific value so I put that as a condition and that didn't work. If I changed the condition to "is equal to", Show List displays all the nodes that match the…

That all makes sense except... how would I update the custom property for all nodes in a group? Using the UI, it doesn't look like there's a way to do that (just like there's no way to manage maintenance mode / alerting status for a group). Or am I missing something?

Had to Google to figure out how to do this simple task. Didn't help that I've switched to the Manage Entities page a while back... In general, that page is much more user-friendly/useful than the legacy Mange Nodes page, but... is there really no way to delete old volumes without switching back to the legacy page???

Thanks for the idea. I worked with support on this and they confirmed that the system is currently working "as designed" and it seems unlikely this will change The development team has created an internal issue for this tracked as DC-3436. By design, solarwinds performs the following: * Orion always uses IP address for…

Following up on what looks to be a long-outstanding issue. There is a feature request for this that I commented on. If you feel this functionality should be there (it should ), upvote!: * Do not allow IPAM to overwrite the Comments field ...

Anyone?

These applications do not show up in Win32_Product. Assuming that's because they're user-specific. File existence monitor does seem like a viable option though a bit of a "brute force" method. I did look into other WMI queries I could use to get this info. It looks like it's not directly available through WMI but it is in…

Did some forum searching and - unfortunately - this was the best thread I could find on the topic... Having the same / similar issue. Application monitors (e.g. process monitors) sometimes fire alerts when: * A node is rebooted * A node goes offline for some time I think this happens if the application monitor poll happens…

It sounds like you're talking about using a custom property called "Group" rather than the Groups built into SolarWinds, yeah? I have a group set up that includes all nodes from a dynamic query and am hoping to modify maintenance mode on that group.

This works but what if I want to mute alerts for all nodes that have a certain City AND a certain Department set? I don't think there's a way to do that through the Manage Nodes page. I assumed I'd be able to put them in a group and mute alerts on the whole group but couldn't find a way to do that either (like everyone…

" When I click on the item to edit it, however, the name clearly shows up in the "DNS Record" section. Why oh why if it knows the DNS name does it not populate that in the hostname? " Seriously... I've been wondering that exact thing! From what I gather based on this article and this feature request, it seems like IPAM is…

After playing around with a few options, I settled on using the Alias field for this purpose.

I have a very similar problem - except - in our environment we are using DHCP (of the Windows Server variety). Basically, the issue is as described above: * a machine drops off the network (for one reason or another) * Eventually, the DHCP lease expires and the DNS record is deleted * A different machine grabs that IP *…

Any chance this has been added in the last 10 years? I too would like to do ICMP-only scanning on certain subnets as some devices don't "like" getting SNMP-scanned...
